DeeMockMark Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 It is almost time for New Years resolutions. I need to take control of my diet for health and weight and well being. I love food and I need to learn how to cook my own delicious and nutritious food. I am open to any type of cuisine. With emphasis on VEGGIES. While not exclusively vegan or vegetarian I do prefer that way of eating a lot. And even more so as time goes on. My favorite cuisines is Indian and Thai. But like I said I am open. I am sensitive to MSG and hidden "flavor enhancers" in Thai/restaurant food. And I think they are at least partly the cause of my more frequent migraines here and rising BP. I want to limit my consumption of Palm oil and replace it with Coconut Oil. I want to eat as organic as I can. My housekeeper and part time cook will accompany me. She is from Burma and speaks reasonable English and she is open to learn. But I need to be more self-sufficient and control the ingredients of what I eat on my own without her. There are a few cooking courses around CM. I really would like to hear of recommendations. What is the best cooking course that you have taken in CM? What is the worst? (So I can avoid it.) Thx.
beau thai Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 2 options come to mind: We at We's restaurant near Chiang Mai Gate. Very genuine, speaks quite good english and will work to your spec, initially go to the market with you and put together a day that matches your needs Or Noi at Teak House at the end of Soi 1 Moon Muang. Probably more formal than We. Noi lived in Seattle for many years and, with her son, runs a successful kitchen and restaurant. These two are in walking distance and I would chat to both and see what styrikes you as best for you. Good luck
jij Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Noi is at "Dash" restaurant to the best of my knowledge.
beau thai Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Noi is at "Dash" restaurant to the best of my knowledge. Dash is the name of Noi's son, and Dash and Teak House are alternative names for the same place...
