BANGKOK: -- The remains of a seven-year-old boy, thought to be the victim of a confessed rapist and murderer, were discovered in an isolated region of Loei's Wang Saphung yesterday. The boy is believed to have been lured to the spot by his killer, while he was attending a merit-making ceremony with his parents on November 10.

Known only as "Nui", the man was arrested for allegedly raping and killing a six-year-old girl in Bangkok on December 6. He has since confessed to a series of grizzly murders involving young children.

Loei police began searching for the boy's remains on Tuesday, but it was only after talking to the confessed killer in Bangkok Remand Prison that they were able to pinpoint the location of the boy's remains with the help of maps and directions, said police chief Maj-General Sakda Wongsiriyanont yesterday.

Fifty police officers combed the area in Ban Noen Somboon, Nong Ya Plong sub-district, and eventually discovered what they believed to be the boy's remains in a fertiliser sack. The bones, including a skull, have been sent to Wang Saphung Hospital for examination before they undergo DNA testing.

The boy's grieving parents visited the spot yesterday where their son's remains were found yesterday. The father said religious rights would be performed, once they had received confirmation of the DNA tests results. He was, however, convinced the remains were those of his son and added that he wanted the killer to be executed.

Sakda said a tearful Nui drew maps of the location where he lured the boy with the offer of sweets. He took the boy on a bicycle to the isolated hilltop, where he molested and strangled him. The next day, he returned and put the boy's body in a fertiliser sack, he told police

Terrible. Very sad story and a deeply moving photo on the front page of the Bangkok Post ( print edition). This family did everything to protect the boy and then couldn't get the police to take an interest until it was too late

The poster means, when the original story broke there were several posts insinuating that Thai police were too incompetent to arrest the correct man that quickly and in fact had just fitted up the nearest homeless guy possible for this horrible crime. This and other crimes often get this kind of thinking associated to them, largely because many TV posters seem to be unable to separate the fact that as well as having a large number of useless coppers good for little more than collecting helmet bribes and eating Som Tam, they also have some actual good police capable of doing a reasonable job when needed.

There are no words to describe how I feel about the "system" and how it allows for these types to roam the fields, ...and to incarcerate them and release them again and again to roam the fields, and subsequently how much the "system" protects these beasts when they are tracked down and shackled, ... only to be released in order to go through the whole charade again

And here we read about an animal being brought right into people's back yards to re-enact his sick rapes and murders of babies...

...and the mob is held at bay by a few bums who don't have the nerve to draw their guns and outright kill people who want to see justice served the way justice was dished out to the babies. What? Are the Thai police going to arrest an entire neighborhood and put all of them on trial for ending the existence of a beast?

Do Thai people really hate Prime minister Ying Luk and her son more than they hate baby rapists and killers?

In Bangkok, they are beating down police barricades and killing someone simply over their political beliefs just so they can occupy a government building and roost on the doorstep and pound their chests.

But elsewhere in Thailand babies are being raped and murdered, and all it takes is for a few bums to hold off the so-called angry crowds.

And where's dad?
