990 Superduke R

Att Bikers !

Since i was 11 years old , the time when i experience the feelings on a modified 50cc of a friend , i am a motorbike lover .

Up from that moment , though my hands has passed more than 10 different motorbikes models from all types , enduro , supermoto , naked , sports , track motorbikes... I had been always selling the last one i used to have and buying another one until now that i own a KTM Superduke 990 R , guess is like womans , in the variety is the taste !

When i was in phuket did not have the chance to drive between the cities of the island , just checked on youtube some guys that with their GoPro camera did the way and uploaded that magic road in the middle of the jungle that is getting me crazy

I am fully aware of the danger that represent to drive a motorbike in Thailand ( as stated in this forum Phuket is the worst ) as i have drive a rented Ducati Supermotard every time i where in bangkok . OK , ex-girlfriend always on the back seat pretty scare and asking to slow down , so thanks her i do not know really what is the top speed/strengh of that moto or maybe thanks to her i still alive ! it can also be looked from that side

I have the chance to export the KTM 990 Superduke R for a very good freight price and that way i can still using it in Thailand - Phuket as i really love this motorbike and dont want to get rid of it for nothing in this world . Already study from this forum the motorbike regulations regarding taxes , licences , inspections , etc..

But my concern in this case is not the crazy and busy roads that Phuket has , not even that truck of 14 meters that can get out of knowhere and crash you like an ant , my only concern is the safety of my beauty . Is very easy to keep it safe on our garages at our home country . What about in phuket ? it is safe enought to park it without big worries ? Must i rent a garage ? What about thiefs ?

My idea is to rent a condo , not yet decided where ( Kata , Phuket , Rawai , Patong ) and as per my understanding some condos has 1 parking slot , but the ones i see are not closed just parking area down your condo building , that´s all

This motorbike is like a sweet , is impossible to be unnoticed and also is a rare bike to be seen in Thailand ( high taxes fault. KTM fail..... ) , so i will really appreciate some opinions of bikers that are already stablish in Phuket and have their ride with them !

Thanks for reading and all the best gents !

I attach some photo of the beauty

Parking is safe anywhere. Never had a problem with thieves or even heard of someone getting one stolen by a stranger.

Girlfriends is another thing.

Thanks much for your words . Guess that girlfriends are like motorbikes , if you borrow them , they ... them up !

Go to the motorcycles in thailand forum and read about importing bikes before you get too carried away with planning where to park it!

Sketcher ,

Thanks for your reply , pass though that headache as i am into maritime business and been in contact with few shipping companies that already quoted me cheap freights under groupage 20' container to Bangkok Port , where my appointed agent will arrange customs clearance and delivery .

Just waiting to make my final decission on when to move and i will obtain an update of those quotations from them when that time comes .

Safety first for my real love ( Duke 990 R ) , really concern about that . She is always devoted and nice to me ! and i must correpond her 555 thats why i was concern about the garage

Now how you feel about the duke how good do they sound with them cans on. Had a power commander put on mine smoothes it out a lot. Let us know how you get on importing it would like to know the cost.

Importing is not the costly part, getting is cleared & registered is another sstory!

OP, you should post in the bike section and see what others that have been successful in importing, or have tried to import bikes into Thailand.

Nice to see your Alfa Animal , yaah ! have instaled also the power commander and KN air filter . Mine is now showing 44.500 Kms and running as good as always

About the importing cost i have business associates that had provided cheap quotations for importing as many years co -working . It can be done by Ro-Ro ship if shipping line operating Eu-Asia or boxed and place it into 20' or 40' container as groupage cargo to keep it cheaper. Anyway the part mentioned by eezergood is the same for each one and i have to go though

Right !

Thanks for your advise and guidance , will have a look
