Hi

My Mrs wants to apply for a visa for her and her mother to visit the UK (My kids and I have Irish passports).

We intend to go early in January.

Can someone let me know the fastest route to get the visas approved. Money won't be an issue and she has visited the UK a couple of times already (first time for her mother).

We could just get Irish visas and travel 'up north' but we want to go to England and visit some friends while we're over there.

Thanks

Mick

As you are an Irish national your wife, provided she is travelling with or to join you, is entitled to an EEA family permit. Which is quick and easy to obtain and free.

Unfortunately, unless you can show that your mother in law is totally dependent upon you; she isn't. So she will need a UK visit visa. See UK Visit Visa Basics.

Thanks for the response 7by7 - I've never heard of a EEA Family Permit. Might be useful in the future when the MIL isn't travelling with us.

you could still use the EEA family permit route for your Mrs, you just have to pay for the MIL.
