He pretended to go for massages. Packed my bags and came back to Oz. We did notice how they flirted but he always said that it was pathetic how old men went with young woman and I believed him.

Interesting. So when farang couples see an older farang with a younger Thai woman, they both say it's pathetic...but what the man is really thinking is he wishes it was him. Sadly, I think this happens a lot.

OP, you're not alone. I can't tell you how many older farang couples I know who come to Thailand with dreams of a quiet retirement. But eventually, the man will stray, and quite often, with a dubious Thai woman. It's not about whether the Thai women were better, or smarter, or more attractive, or more feminine, etc. It's the youth thing. She was always younger. There should be some sort of warning for older farang couples wanting to retire in Thailand. Many guys just can't handle it.

When I see those young Thai girls and the elderly men together, I am more inclined to think they both know what they are in for in the relationship. The men are looking for love/companionship and the girls are looking for financial security/life style. The sad story began when the money ran out, the relationship changed, the men left with broken heart and broken bank account, but the men knew all along how the relationship will end.

I don't think she blamed Thai women. I think she was generalizing about the men who are in denied why Thai girls are with them. It is great that you find love and have a happy marriage, but come on look around you, you cannot dispute that there are many young Thai girls who are with the elderly men for money.

This happened to a friend of mine in Phuket. Her and her husband were from London and retired there in their early fifties. It wasn't long until he'd gone off with a bar girl and left his wife of 25 years. She had a terrible struggle, he left her with nothing. Not long after that he had a heart attack and passed away. I haven't heard from her for a couple of years now and just hope she is okay.

I've also had Thai friends who married farang who've taken them back to the UK and treated them very badly, only for them to 'escape' and back to the same old life.

The whole world needs to find kindness and everyone needs to start caring for one another regardless of nationality.

trying to lay the blame on all men is crap and you know it. Unfortunately there are a lot of men that think with their dicks but there are also a lot of women that push their husbands away and treat them badly. If two people love each other and they are meant to be together this shit doesnt happen. What you need to realize is that you were not meant to be together, whether it was his fault, your fault or even both your faults it happened. Just because your marriage didnt work doesnt mean it is the same for everyone, I understand the pain involved as I have been there only it was my wife doing the dirty but I didnt blame all aussie women because of it. Time you woke up to yourself and changed your way of thinking, if their is love in a marriage the screwing around doesnt happen, obviously your marriage lacked that. we are aware of that but there are also a lot that are not there for the money, trying to lump them all together is simply wrong and doing so because your partner screwed around on you is even more pathetic. Its not what she is saying but what she is implying.

Its never easy when ANY relationship ends, it doesnt really matter who's fault it is, its over and that hurts, and you want answers and justification, sometimes someone to blame.

If you have invested years into a relationship, had dreams etc, then it all just disappears so quickly so easily, its painful and you want a reason, thats natural but unfortunately its not always that easy. You just have to accept it, move on, learn to live with it, dont apportion blame, dont become bitter, it happened, its done, get on with yiur life, you cant move forward if you keep looking backward.

Thai women are predominently beautiful, younger than their years, extremely attractive in demenour. There are very few western women in normal daily life that are in the same league as a Thai woman. They are totally different in so many ways, ways that a western woman couldnt comprehend, so dont waste your time and energy trying.

I think its dangerous for a western wife to live in Thailand with her husband. I would almost guarantee he will wander, in most cases secretly. You can't compete with the looks of a Thai, unless you are very attractive and slim.

But, I agree its all about the money,as long as the money flows it will be OK.

There are millions of western women who are more beautiful than the average Thai woman so it is not dangerous for western women to live in Thailand with their husbands.

Studies indicate men who cheat usually cheat WITH uglier and less attractive women so there you go....

I think you are misreading me. Read yesterday that another farang commited suicide over a Thai. I have read about this a lot and have friends who have come home bankrupt. My advice to the OP is take some time to yourself, try to put the bad feelings you naturally have aside and consider where you want take your life forward to.

The feelings of betrayal and anger that are totally natural and understandable will subside if you let them, they will be replaced by a sense of freedom and hope - if you let them.

If you dwell on these negative feelings they will take control of you.

If you need to see where that will take you, read the posts by many of the expat men who post on Thai visa - they are consumed with bitterness and fear towards western women.

Move on, you got rid of a guy who has shown what he's really made of - remind yourself you deserve better.

Coming on this forum arguing with a guys who have their own women problems to work out is not going to help anything, least of all help you move forward.
