BANGKOK, 2 Jan 2014 (NNT) - The Land Transport Department’s ad-hoc passenger protection center has received 124 complaints against public bus drivers during December 27th-31st, and all the cases are being dealt with in court.

Director-General Achasatai Rattanadilok Na Phuket said most of the offenders were guilty of driving recklessly, dishonoring the deal with passengers, exhibiting vulgar behaviors, and charging unfair rates.

He also stated that Land Transport Dept checkpoints set up during the period found 234 out of 88,000 public buses unfit for services, with most of them having damaged windshields and passenger seats, followed by failing electrical systems and emergency doors.

About 200 drivers of the buses tested also violated driving regulations wearing impolite attire and speaking impolitely while on duty. Some of the drivers had been overworking and did not carry their licenses. All of the violators are now facing disciplinary actions.

It's ok cause the drivers will just do a Suthep,

Not turn up for court for a few times claiming we are busy protesting and helping with another "final push".

after that ok drive their mini van at high speed with balding tires, push 4 motor cy's 2 car's and a couple of slow walking student off the road, smash into a parked car killing half a dozen people, run away and say it wasn't my fault it was the flat tire's fault.

a week later turn himself in and produce his" paid for license",

and claim it ok I'm a super hero trying to save the aliens... simple reallywhistling.gif

Your seriously obsessed.. should have known a red supporter would bring in politics to a topic like this. Not to mention that most of the police who should uphold the law are red supporters. cheesy.gif

Now I go OT after answering this crazy comment.

I find it a real small amount of buses that are not safe. I wonder how good they have checked as the percentage is quite low. Most of us would have expect a much higher haul. I wonder how many have bribed themselves free from charges and are not included int he numbers.

What exactly is "impolite attire"?

What Farangs usually wear when in town.
What? Closed toe shoes, long trousers/jeans, tailored shirts? That's what I wear. Why is that impolite? Edited by Bluespunk

124?

I could show you that amount in a single day and in a single province.

For every one complaint, there are probably 100 that don't bother.

It is a positive step at the least. But you still have to complain. Are you one oif those never satisfied or just a pessimist ?

He is a realist, I too wonder how many bribed their way out I really dont believe that of 88.000 buses only 234 had a problem.

these days its rare that i have reason to complain about intercity buses and i take say one ever month or two. but complains that caused concern were talking on the mobile phone holding it to the ear with one hand while driving on a not straight road, same bus spraying foul smelling toxic "air freshener". there are good and bad air freshners, like drinking through your lungs a mixture of unknown chemicals.

one or two for too fast through built up area. but most i am willing to thank the drivers for a uneventful pleasant drive but i dont. it not the done thing..sometimes do just a thank you. never lost any luggage either.

if there are trains doing the route these are first preference if they are frequent,

anyhow. where is the number to complain in the original story? should be prominently displayed in all buses then passengers could call when the action is happening. At destination and your are too happy to arrive to complain.

the bus drivers have just about as much a grasp of the road rules as your English, now in reality it wasn't really a political comment but just an observasion and well not to hard to see the likeness with the two.

If you read my post there was 2 out of 6 lines with comments in a political but context, both of which are relative to each other in my view given the history of both mentioned.

bus drivers have just about as much of my trust as do politics here in Thailand. so my friend now it's time you get a life and see the comment for what it was.

save ya YELLOW Comments,

Happy new year matew00t.gif

What is wrong with you lot ??

Two guys on holiday, in the tropics wearing shorts, having a chat.................

What kind of nutter bothers to take a picture like this and then go to the trouble to post it on a forum as some sort of statement or implied criticism.

The downward spiral is well advanced for TV.

I don't believe 88,000 buses were checked.

More like 234 were checked and all were found to have a problem.

Sounds right, I took a container to thailand and after doing the paper work to pick it up I went in the truck to deliver the box to my house to give directions. What a mistake! the cab was full of empty red bull bottles the driver was Mad ranting to me in thai all the way talking on his cell phone drinking more red bull, chain smoking and overtaking like a maniac, he pushed 2 motor bikes of the rd when we left the depot and nearly wiped out several cars. The over taking was the scariest as he had to slip stream to gain speed and when he overtook he just missed the truck in front by inches and hardly on some overtakes had time to get back on his side of the rd b4 a head on. Then he spead through Cha Amm at over 120 kph.

At that point I rang my GF and her brother spoke to him to slow down and had to come to escort him to Hua Hin.

So a ride in a lod doo is chicken feed to taking a ride with a truck driver.
