I had root canal treatment at BHP in September last year. Recently the gum around the tooth started swelling and I saw a dentist in Vietnam. I had no immediate plans to of going back to Pattaya. After seeing my x-rays two Vietnamese doctors told me that one of root canal pins was several millimeters too far into the bone which was causing of the problem. They also called the situation "dangerous" as the pin showed too close to sinuses. Anyone with a suggestion on hot to restore the damage? On another note my $$-hole insurance company CIGNA refused to reimburse the treatment although dental was part of the coverage citing some b$ in their encyclopedia-thick fine print.

Well it certainly sounds like the pins need to be removed/replaced. What did the dentists in Viet Nam recommend?

If what you are trying to get at is some sort of restitution or free care from the hospital, not at all likely. I suggest you proceed with treatment where you are.

I was prescribed some meds to take care of swelling. Docs at the clinic told me that the problem was not their specialty thus I'm just hoping the meds cure it. I have no plans to travel to Pattaya any time soon and would be worried about visiting the same clinic again.

I was considering going to Bangkok Pattaya to have a cavity filled which is under an existing amalgam filling.

You have put me off that place now.

Are there any places that follow proper procedures for removing old amalgam fillings in Pattaya?
