I have BUPA Thailand health insurance, coverage THB 5,000,000 (NOT BUPA international)

Apparently this also covers for treatment outside of Thailand excl USA.

Does anyone have any experience of making a claim for such treatment outside Thailand? Apparently this means paying the bill up front then making a claim to BUPA Thailand.

I have the same insurance but (knock on wood) have never had to make a claim abroad. In fact this ferature was one reason for selecting that plan as I spend a lot of time in Cambodia. In addition to covering medical costs aborad they will cover the costs of repatriation. Note that they exclude care in the US.

I'm interested in the experience of others who have filed claims for treatment outside Thailand, as well. How efficient is it? How do they pay (check? bank transfer?) Any issues with verifying bills from overseas? Can bills be submitted (fax? email a scan? mail?) from overseas during an extended stay in another country?
