Where do you meet these super hot, well educated, middle class Thai/Chinese Hi-So girls?

The strange thing in Thailand is that somebody that sells shoes on the market (full time, every day) usually makes more money (probably about 40K per month) and an employee in a bank.

So, is the first one middle class or not?

Exactly. Hiso is a bizarre creation the simplest definition of which to me would be wannabe snob.

Agree. Hiso to me is a term that makes me cringe. I too equate it to wannabe snob or Nouveau Riche.

If you have real class, you dont actually care about class..for you have no need nor desire to prove anything. For people with real class (or real hiso- whatever that may actually be..for i believe the term hi-society is for those craving Liberace style‎ overt status. ..the type that require obvious brand names to show their worth for example!), this type of "scene" is showy, pretentious and downright grotesque.

There is no such thing as not caring about class. High society class is learned not born. It comes from years of proper upbringing by a cultured family or tutors. It does not come naturally.

It also does not require money. In fact, the richer a lot of people get the more self-centered and crass they become. They will never fit into high society no matter how much they have.

It seems like the op is not just looking for someone who is wealthy. The question is asking about women who have some standards in behavior and culture that are not just the low life bar stuff he's probably having an issue with. I don't blame him.

In the other end of the middle class scale I a know a well educated Thai, he had studied in England even he came from a Isaan farmer family working hard to pay for his education abroad. He now holds a major job in a multinational company in Bangkok and is paid a yearly salary close to 10 million bath, and of course can afford to own a nice big house in Bangkok and drive in the “right brand” of car. I presume he will not qualify in the “real” upper class, but rather the top of the middle class.

Top of the middle class is still known as middle class, unless he was to come from family that had established wealth then it would be "Upper middle class" (based on UK class system). Strange, i know. Maybe there was less fluxuations in this class area before, so there was little need to classify further. No idea.

I personally distaste the UK class system, but it is as follows (basic outline):

"Underclass" = Unemployed (long term/often for generations/living on benefits and in council estates etc)

"Working class" = Unskilled and semi-skilled..(usually manual labour)

"Middle class" = Usually "white collar" jobs such as office work etc, management positions and professionals.

"Upper middle class" = Usually those born into money, but without title.

"Upper class" = Titled gentry. Lords, Barons, Royalty etc.

Maybe some will differ with my breakdown of this, feel free!

What exactly does this "class" classify?

Character, wealth, education ???

For example, if an "Underclass" wins a couple of million GBP's would he automatically become a "Upper middle class"?

If not, why?

Serious reply. If you only eat at McDonalds you will never get to taste real fillet steak. (e.g. You won't meet them in bars!!!!) Many Thai girls from all sections of Thai life are nervous about taking home a farang unless they have a bullet-proof alibi as to where they met. This is particularly true if the farang guy is older by any margin. A decent girl will be nervous that some may think she has been moonlighting as a bar, escort or internet part timer and so unless you have connections through business or education etc it is hard to date "better" (not hi-so)thai girls. It is not impossible but the opportunities do not easily exist without connections (including good introductions) or good luck. I was lucky enough to have a good intro connection via the education circle. Many Thai women are soured off thai men by the meer noi experience & having to share their Thai husband with his latest social acquisition. These girls are looking for farangs as they perceive us to not needing to have meer noi's to keep up socially with other Thai predator-types. Not all thai men are like this but they sure sour a first wife in many instances right off ever having another Thai husband. My wife wife kept to herself for 7 years after after break-up as she did not want a repeat until we were introduced. There are many girls out there looking for genuine intro's to decent farangs but don't be a .farang predator!! They have already been hurt once.

You're not doing anything wrong, because 99% of those hi-so girls will never hang out with a Foreigner. You may find an educated girl, but not white Chinese thai.

In countries that got rid of any idea of inbred aristocracy, these class distinctions are based purely on income and assets.

But where the lines are drawn is completely arbitrary, just like beauty the definitions of these terms is completely in the eye of the beholder.

For me in Thailand I don't find it useful to make any distinctions finer than:

People that are so wealthy they don't have to work at all if they choose not to (and their kids are usually dilettantes at best).

People that work at jobs that require an education, either skilled trades or professional, small business owners etc.

Unskilled labor workers and rural farming society.

Totally down and out poor.

Labeling these categories is left as an exercise for the reader.

The reason why you think there are so many is that in reality most have either a farmers daughter or bar girl for wife

Humm ... farmers daughter .... dry.png

MissFarmGirl says she's not HI-SO, she's not LOW-SO ... so, by definition ... does that make her SO-SO ... w00t.gif

I don't know where to meet those super hot, well educated, middle class Thai/Chinese Hi-So girls. Maybe I'll just have to settle with super hot.

If you yearn a HiSo bird, I'd recommend you watch one of those banal 'panel' chat shows on TV - usually in the afternoons - and listen to the shrill squawking and vapid <deleted> they spout then imagine that cacophony in your front room. At least with Bar Girls, you'd be assured a bit of a laugh....

Through family. Also easier if you work here (in an office, not a bar), speak the lingo (or her English is good enough), and are lucky enough that the family is not completely anti-foreigner (and not all are - but many are). Hunt in the gutter and all you find are rats and cockroaches.

Met my Mrs through family - via the wife of my best friend from school and business partner for years (she was my wife's auntie - all mentioned were Sino-Thai, were and are pretty wealthy and have businesses in the UK and here in Thailand - property too and very good connections). It's luck like that (mine being I went to school with him in the UK) that allows for those family connections - and that is the most important thing. Without family introduction and family recommendation, for most the entry gate is barred.

come on, make me feel better about my impending 1/2m Dowry, how much did you pay mate ? lol

biggrin.png Wow! Such a simple thing I did not know!

So "Class" is about curtains, serviettes and napkins....

Such mundane things...

So many replies already but...

Thais talk themselves up. Make everything sound bigger and better than it really is ... and many farang are desperate to believe the stories themselves because they like the idea of it.

Many of these topics that start off about "upper middle class" gf end up exposing details and it turns out her parents own a mini mart or a hair salon or her parents are teachers and her brother needs a loan... but they all have an uncle who is in the navy or the police and they have power wink wink which the farang is very excited to tell you about...

this no different from all the BS exaggeration and face that goes on every day when you interact with Thais.

Another thing many farang on this forum do is which is annoying is mention how they have a bunch of businesses... which is usually something like "i bought the wifey some tshirts that she sells in a market" and "look at this hole in the backyard filled with fish that generates 10k baht a month minus expenses... but everyone wants to pretend that they are some mover and shaker... and then they talk about "how there is so much more opportunity in business in Thailand than the West" because apparently you can't sell t-shirts on the side walk in Berlin or wash dishes in dirty water in a bucket in the middle of London.

plenty of poor foreigners working illegally in thailand.

almost none who work are totally legit.

you get bistro owners, cooking on the sly.

bar owners, clearing tables and serving.

massage spa owners, washing and ironing.

teachers, private lessons at home.

the list is endless, but they are horrified by illegals working in their home countries.

Far from being horrified the US hospitality and agricultural industries depend on illegal employes and have for 40 years. And I think it is a job requirement for all politicians and court nominees to have illegal maids.
