Protesters in southern provinces to start shutdown on Monday

This is really going to hurt Yingluks support in the North East.

What is is showing is the PDRC cannot keep their Southern Supporters in BKK for many reasons. Money and lack of interest so they have come up with a work from home scheme basically.

Let them control the south. Then the rest of the country can see how despotic they are. Will also sort out the small boys from the very small boys then the Students are sent to Pattani to enfoce Sutheps law there.

Meanwhile to prove me right, Suthep is on a series of marches designed mainly to collect money for his failing putch. Support? Kidding me. He thinks there is more support to be garnered in Paholyothin after this being on the news for 80 days now? It's the money.

Yestedays sickening speach was also all about money and bleating that nobody believes him about the suspect bomb.

The donations yesterday are now PDRC money and only to go to the family if the doner specically reqested it. Look like they were just stuffing it into bags again... So... it's Sutheps money.

But at least the money was given freely, to a cause the doners actively support - Suthep!

Unlike the literally billions of baht of hard earned taxpayers money wasted on half arsed policies as exemplified by the last two years of mis-administration by the government. They have even failed their core voters the farmers who have been waiting 6 months nearly or their owed money.

Not that you know much or care about it, but as the Gov is in Cartaker mode they cannot pay. and the overseeing courts are refusing to let them pay.

Not the same thing, but if you want us to believe you can't see this anyoway other than this old chestnut.... thats ok.

The money flow increased because of the rhetoric, but the PDRC only gave 1 million of it back!! caring sharing.

I for one won't comment anymore one that sad fact as the grieving family should not be caught up in this. The lady obviously was in shock and bweilderment as well she might be and to drag her around BKK an on stage was just one more desperate disgusting ploy to add the the PDRC long long list of crimes and self serving actions.

Looking less likely there will be a coup. And its' looking impossible that if there was a coup that they could function at all or work with anybody. NObody will wear it this time. Everything is too transparent and Sutheps and the Cowards that back him are 30 years out of date with their tactics.

You're a real pork pie machine

The government set the rules for the scheme and now cannot adhere to the rules and pay the farmers because the credit limit that the morons set wasn't high enough. If there was any intelligence amongst them they would have thought of their rural supporters before dissolving the house. There wasn't and now they can reap the rewards

Please can the protesters take some loudspeakers away to the South too?

They were blaring away until past 1 am last night.

Yes, this is the problem with some of us.

Only concerned about our little selves and convenience, disregarding the struggle and fight for a better future for the country we live in.

You/Me/Us don't "Live" here. We only "exist" here. And your buddy Suthep is the head of the people who DON'T want us here. He hates farangs.

You are looking in the wrong directions, when it comes to "hating farangs" or pointing the finger at us, as a group. it was Thaksin and his Government, who claimed, it it the "Farangs' fault, that there is not enough land to grow food, because we (farangs) own "most" of the land in Thailand. (after pushing his gasohol and using agriculture lands for growing crops for gasohol and biodiesel)

Thaksin and his "red hordes", are scary. Reminds me of somebody else, pointing fingers, in history.

Everyone, I have met, who is in Suthep's side, has been nice and polite to me and my wife. We have quite a few friends, who are on the Anti-Government side, even a retired, former high ranking General, who treats us as friends.

So I think, you are looking at the wrong person. I don't see Khun Suthep hating foreigners. I don't think, anybody "hates" foreigners, in Thailand, but some guys, like Thaksin, use us, in their propaganda, blaming us, when the Government should take responsibility for their own, often stupid, mistakes.

We have friends on both sides and refuse to let politics tear us apart. Relationships go deeper than politics, in Thailand.

LOL - So why weren't the farmers paid before YL dissolved parliament? Or perhaps her fabled 'dream team' are unable to plan farther then the end of their noses into the future.

PTP had October, November and a decent chunk of December to pay the farmers. This problem existed before they became 'caretakers'

Why didn't PTP pay the farmers during October. November or December? Answer me that?.

Don't blame the courts Pipkins - Blame the government. The buck stops there! End of.

Considering that those places are heavily subsidized by the wealth from Bangkok and the South, I would say that in the long run, they will get affected.

Take a look at the 130 billion need from the south for the rice scam.

I suggest you take a course in Thailand's economy. Do you understand that Thailand is still an agrarian based economy? Who do you think is growing all of that food and making the purchases of the hard goods and services in Thailand? In case you didn't know, the imposed low wages on the farm and general workers benefits the owners and operators of the companies who are typically associated with "Bangkok". The poor of Thailand pay their taxes by way of VAT and unlike the rich folk who circumvent import duties of vehicles and expensive goods, the poor can't do that. You have not acknowledged the billions poured into the south because of the southern insurgency. Nor have you recognized the large amounts of infrastructure spending in the south. Phuket gets a new airport, while Udon makes do with what it has etc. etc. etc.

To tx22cb,

Dear Sir,

Please, try to understand that my comment was not directed to your good self.

But to many of Thaksin's and Yingluck's supporters ranting on TVF just because their cushy lives have been disturbed, and really

they don't give a rat's arse about politics or concern for this country.

If I offended you, please, accept my apologies.

My Regards

Costas

Well, I hope that the anti-democracy farangs who support Insane Suthep and live in the south are now not going to start to complain about it :)

They should be happy to see their beloved southerners shut down their own streets too.

Or if they don't like it, they can, of course, always switch side and support the government, and the democratic system :)

There have been stages setup outside government buildings for a month or two now in the south, the only thing they have disrupted and likely to continue doing is closing the schools for fear of a rampant mob.

You forget one thing, on purpose I guess, that the supporters from the south, unlike the red shirts, almost all have jobs, so they cannot stay in bkk for long, even if they wanted to.

Per the World Bank report May 2012 - 72% of Thai public expenditure is in Bangkok, which is home to 17% of the nation's population and provides 26% of GDP. Contrast to the Northeast that receives 6% of public expenditure and is home to 34% of the population.

Thailand certainly needs an agrarian revolution, but the collapse of the rice scam will be a pretty brutal way to do it. Encouraging farmers to maximise their layout and then not paying them will force thousands off the land, rather than offer assistance to move to other industries, is a low bastard act; OTOH there was a heap of corruption to be syphoned off by Yingluk and her corrupt cronies.

BTW Phuket gets a new airport? How much more tax revenue from tourists is generated from Phuket compared to Udon? 10 times? More?

Do you have children who can't get to sleep and have school in the mornings? For 6 days and counting? What would you tell them?

Do you have any young children?

Are you, Mr Costas, even within earshot of a protest site?

The main speeches are over by 9 pm ... it's just country music and entertainment until 1 am. Nothing to do with furthering the cause, just amusement. Nothing different to your neighbours holding a party next doors.

The protesters can do what they want until 9 pm, then they can let folks get some rest.

My thoughts would be the same if it were the Reds near me - nothing to do with politics.

Why do people like you link a comment about noise pollution back to politics?

Living close to a protest site, I bet I have been to more rallies (day time and evenings) than you, Mr Costas, and spent more money buying from their small vendors than you, Mr Costas.

What have you, Mr Costas, done for the "struggle and fight"? Name a few of your sacrifices. Name a few of your efforts (and posting disparaging messages in forums do not count).

Best if that Suthep would not see another day to spread his poisonous messages. It could easily escalate into a civil war if he pushes it too far. There is a moment that enough is enough for everyone.

When Taksin came to power, first on his agenda was to make life as difficult for expats as possible with constant visa changes, sometimes on a weekly basis, and anti foreigner rhetoric steaming out his fat mouth. The local Thais here on Phuket said 'What are we going to do now all the rubber trees are gone?' And I'm not talking about jetskis or tuk tuk drivers.

On the other hand, just as soon as the junta had their foot in the door, first thing Suthep did was to make a swoop on foreign owned businesses here (and he's from the South, so no cherry picking there). Truth is nationalism is so deeply entrenched in this country that neither of them 'want' us here and are merely playing up to the crowds. Xxx the pair of them.

BTW, Taksin will never be able to return and Suthep will be disposed of once he's served his purpose, laudable as it is. So can the Screamers on here please keep the noise down coffee1.gif
