Yesterday I had a second internet proviger added so I don't have to share my bandwidth with my 3 kids. I had 3BB and added True DSL package the problem is that I can't open web pages with the True wifi on my desktop or my kid's desktops. The desktops are connected and items such as STEAM gaming portal even updated fast but no websites will open nor will Google drive work.

After calling True help desk I was told to type in a DNS address into the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4) Properties and that has solved the problem.

But why did I have to do that when my notebook also using Windows 7 works fine without adding a DNS address, it is set to obtain DNS server address automatically?

Normally, Internet Devices use DHCP to request an IP address, a subnet range, a Gateway address, and two or more DNS IP entries so url names can be converted to IP addresses.

I assume the game portal could connect as the IP address was hard coded in the program and didn't need to convert a url name to an IP address. The other services all need to do DNS lookups to fetch an IP address as the IP addresses may change or be set to balance users on different IP numbered servers.

An Internet Device can be set to a preconfigured STATIC DNS entry to do IP lookups but this setting may cause issues later as it prevents the device from accepting DYNAMIC DNS entries when you use the device at some other location or on some other Internet Service.

If you're not getting DNS settings when your computer requests an IP address through DHCP then your modem/router is probably misconfigured. If you open the modem web configuration page you'll probably find that "Auto Discovered DNS Server" or some similar DNS checkbox is set to not provide the DNS IP addresses during DHCP.
