Racist Thai teacher

Nothing new about what the OP is describing.

Not only teachers but many Thais have this attitude.

Envy and xenophobia is integrated in their everyday life.

Can't blame them as they never had the opportunity of proper education.

i think i read somewhere around 80% of thais dont even have a passport

and never had one

thailand is their whole world !

Thai teachers and most others make 12-15k baht a month. How long would it take for 80% of Thais to save up for a trip to the U.S. or Europe?

No wonder they don't have passports!

I hear about the Thai's xenophobia all the time, but my students are always asking me to talk and show pictures from Canada.

Buy her a 2-week tour trip to Europe so she can see all the wonderful infrastructure, show her how fast the internet is there and how clean the country is, how happy the people and how beautiful & clean houses there are. Show her a Costa Brava beach and a Switzerland town. Then go back with her for a Sunday afternoon to Cha Am or Jomtien Beach after the hordes of Thai weekenders have left and aks her if she still likes Thailand

they have something better than proper education. they live with the farangs among them.

it no secret those that live here on their own dime are not what one considers high quality men. high quality are just not interested in drinking and partying with bar girls everyday.

the good men that do live in thai are prolly old and stay home.

no such thing as middle class farang. its either low so types or those with good ex pat jobs.

Oz

Yea, just say things to her like:

"Be careful today, I've been eating a lot of cheese"

"I've bought this new under-arm deodorant - do you want to smell it?"

"I want to introduce you to my dog"

"Thais are the best thing since sliced bread"

"OMG, the Thai chick I met at the weekend is a real banger"

Had a teacher in the Philippines who had 18 "Canos" in her class and 30 Filipino Teenagers. First thing she did was to draw on the blackboard "Some people in this class came to Earn and not to Learn. Then she proceeded to extort money. I think those teenagers learned exactly how not to Earn....but to beg, borrow and steal.

we have "red necks" in Australia too, they are in every country. Usually people that cannot accept that they are the stupid ones with no great intelligence and need to run others down so that they dont feel so bad. I just laugh at them as their comments are totally stupid and ill informed, she is an uneducated dropkick, just turn your back on her and walk away.

or marry her

Yes, I thought that was an odd part. At first I didn't quite understand what she was saying as I never knew she saw me walking my dog outside the class. I thought she was joking initially as who in their right mind would prefer some flea bitten soi dog runt as opposed to a Lab.

Soi dogs to me look sort of inbred….all stunted, small and and not quite normal.

She taught me again and I tried to wind her up but she was in a better mood and wouldn't bite.

I asked her how she can decide who Thai people are….she said by their facial appearance. I asked her about my friend who is 100% white in appearance but holds a Thai ID from her half-Thai mom. She couldn't answer as there is no answer to that.

I asked her if she felt it was fair that so many Thais immigrate to America and Canada yet its not reciprocal. She said why does Thailand need farang when Thais can do the same work as farang. When I said if that's the case, why do so many farang work here and for a higher salary, she just changed the topic.

You can't win as she has already made up her mind and not open to new ideas.

I looked at your previous posts and congratulate you on speaking fluent Thai in a few days. I noticed you said you were planning on moving to Thailand in October of 2013. When did you actually get here?

Do you or did you work for the NSA?

I worked for 20 years in northern Canada flying drunk, smelly, dirty and disgusting Indians (not the ones from India). I did it in order to finish work early and move to Thailand. I hated everything about them…their culture, language, appearance, music, attitude, even their physical presence made me ill.

Now I can relate to how bar girls feel with their ugly customers. I had to smile and laugh with them while inside I was repulsed by them. I was no different than a bar girl and sold my dignity for money everyday. Its not a pleasant existence but I have a good life here now.

They would be native canadians. What sort of natives are in canada and how they are similar to the ones in america? I mean you know of the sioux and the apache cos these are famous tribes but so far i have never really heard of the canadian indians and do they have a canadian version of the trail of tears?

Btw it's the native canadian's country so you are the invader.

Well, they have the highest rate of suicides in the world. Girls are raped routinely, alcoholism is rampant, children start sniffing gas at 6 years old, unemployment is over 80%, diabetes and drug use is out of control, their diet consists of potato chips and Coke, they are insanely fat, the murder rate is about 1 in 300 people annually….need I go on?

Its not somewhere you want to go. Its all about money and how much you can make off them before you quit.

http://www2.macleans.ca/2012/03/30/canada-home-to-the-suicide-capital-of-the-world/ Pretty accurate synopsis.

Fair question….learning part time for 7 years now, but started full time reading / writing 3 months ago.

Nobody can speak any language fluently in a few days. I never said that so why are you misquoting me?

Is English not your first language? Or are you just stupid? Its people like you that I want to meet to see if you are really as retarded as I imagine you to be when you can't even quote someone accurately.

Technically speaking, the attitudes described are xenophobic, rather than racist. Xenophobia simply means hatred of all things foreign, and xenophobia can be found around the world, particularly in insular, poorly educated societies like Thailand. Personally, I don't find Thai attitudes any worse than the xenophobia in Africa towards muzungus in South America towards gringos. Indeed, I find most Thais to be fairly open and friendly - and, of course, very polite, which makes life a lot easier.

The confusion between xenophobia and racism is very common, and can turn minor problems into big ones, because saying someone is racist is a serious accusation. If you are in a European country, and you don't like being surrounded by Moslem immigrants, this does not make you a racist. Racism is an ideology which makes one race superior to another, and is generally associated with 19th century Europe and the big push for colonies around the world was justified on racial grounds. Racism is hardly limited to Europe, however; the Jaoanese have always had a tradition of racism, for example, and I know they have no respect for the Thais, in particular.

Might be interesting to ask your teacher what she thinks of her fellow Asians - you might get an inferesting response! :)

This puerile style of conversation is fun now because she is attractive, you are tripping to be bantering in a foreign language, enjoying the socialising but it will get stale or possibly even ugly. You need to go beyond this or the relationship will stall.

She is not attractive. Its already become uglyI just have the decency not to respond to her likewise. There is no relationship.

Every country has people like this. I have an uncle who is basically the same way about the USA. He never left the country, only eats American staples (burgers, hotdogs, potatoes etc) only buys "American made" products. I figure its their loss not mine

Yes you cant change people like that.. the irony in this story is though she chose a profession where she gets in close contact with the thing she hates.

Though she does have some good points on farang. Its not like we as a group are perfect, many misfits here much higher as back home. Its quite noticeable in the looks and education department.

Good points:blink:

It’s too funny! She is too funny!

what an answers she gives, like she has only primary education and is working in the field all life...but, no, she must be educated if she is a teacher but her answers sound like children’s, no logic, nothing behind the answer...

Hilarious, off course you cannot be insulted in somebody like that; I mean she is stupid enough to say that racist stuff during her class…

But it seems like that Thais can say whatever they want to Farang but Farang needs to be very careful about what we are saying to them so they don’t lose face.

I don’t smell on cheese although I love to eat it but regarding on smell, where else in the world you can eat fresh garlic on daily base for the lunch and go to work like it’s normal to have a breath like that and not to be embarrassed about it ha ha - talking about the smells J

And they do adore our skin color, L’oreal and other companies make more money in Asia on whitening products then on any other product in any part of the World. I love to say to Thai people that farang actually love ”tua dam” and that I am going to the sea to swim during the day to catch some sun J

You can scoff but just 10 years only about 20% of US citizens had a passport.

But the OP's story is funny! She's a real classic.

She is really obsessed with the topic of Farang faults, isn't she?

It sounds more to me like she was jilted by a Farang and now has a deep hatred of them. From what I understand, these ideas are drilled into Thai children's heads both in their communities and schools, so it might be caused by that. Either way, if she's obsessing so much about this, you can be sure that she's generally a miserable and unhappy person who wants to blame others for her lot in life. I might ask her if Farang are so awful, why do all the women on woman's products marketed to Thais in the store look Farang? In other words, if Farang are so terrible, why do 99% of Thai woman want to look like them?

BTW, if she is only a teacher hired by the school and she is being offensive toward a portion of the class, why don't you just report her to the administrators and make a formal complaint?

There are loads out there like her mate, but most are not so openabout it. I've been teaching here 9 years, and i've met some really good Thai people. She sounds as though she is inbred, which wouldn't surprise me at all. People like her with that attitude are luckily enough in the minority. A freind of mine always says that no matter how long we live here, we will ALWAYS

:) I'm not sure they would have even cared…. its a sad reality that substance abuse is prevalent in remote flying in Canada…..

http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/03/20/drugs-and-bad-weather-behind-deadly-n-w-t-plane-crash-board-says/

Its not an environment you want to live….some people can never appreciate Thailand because they never had to live in remote locations in Canada.
