On a car truck or heavy goods vehicle, how many types of braking systems can you quote. By that I mean as you put your foot on the pedal, between the pedal and the shoes or pads. .

I got 8.

Can you list them please. smile.png ( I might learn something ) smile.png

Hydraulic, air, cable, lever operated; inboard or outboard; disc or drum or that weird system with two discs rubbing together or something that was abandoned in 1903.

It's actually quite fun not using Wikipedia!

OK I got

Air

Vacuum assit.

Hydraulic

Cable

Electric retarder

Exhaust retarder

Drum

Disc

Technically inboard/outboard/propshaft is a location not a type.

Add 'rod' to the list.

I believe rod brakes were only ever used on bicycles but I've been wrong before...

The rod thing was in my reserve. smile.png Think it was an Austin something, had rods to the rear brakes, can't be sure but have seen it way back. whistling.gif

I had a Ford Prefect and early Popular both of which had rod brakes. - I thinkblink.png

So did the Model A.

Never had a Model A but come to think of it I did own a Model Y - that also had rod brakes

Just to clarify, I did not own any of these cars from new. They were all old bangers by the time I could afford one.

No i wont forget the Paint. Broadspeed Heads were Sprayed Blue for the best ones, Mini Highly Tuned heads were generally red ,and that one of yours looks very Non Yank to me. Plus ive not got one right yet.facepalm.gif

The head castings are stock, sourced from a 1968 vintage engine 10.5 to1 cr. smile.png
