family settlement visa

Featured Replies

Hi I want to bring my wife son(who has a british passport)and my step daughter to come here and settle am I right in saying I need to fill out the vaf4a form, also do I have to fill out a second form for her daughter or just the vaf4a form thanks

You will need to complete the form for your wife and her child, and pay the fee for both.

As a child wouldn't normally be allowed to settle in the UK unless both parents are settled, or applying to settle, you should apply for them together.

You are aware of the financial requirement of an income of £18,600 to allow your wife to qualify, this figure is increased if the child is not yours.

There is no increase in the financial requirement for your son.

You might find this helpful uk-settlement-visa-basics I believe this may also give details of the requirements of settlement if the child is not living with both of his natural parents.

So for the child I will need the kor phor 14 is this correct?also my wife has my family name do I have to change the daughters name to my family name or is it ok as it is

KP14 will help; but you'll need more than that; especially if she has been living with the other parent at all or he has taken an active interest in her life and upbringing.

You do not need to change the child's name; and in my opinion such a name change followed almost immediately by a visa application will only arouse the ECO's suspicions.

May I suggest that you read UK settlement visa basics; you will find many of your questions answered there; but feel free to come back and ask about anything you're still unsure about.

Her father has had no for years not bothered with his daughter so is the kor phor 14 good enough?

Plus any other evidence you may have that that the child has been living with the mother and the mother has been making the decisions about the child's life for a considerable period.
