The world's nervous system revealed: Interactive map charts 550,000 mile-long network of underwater cables that carry world's web traffic

  • The 2014 editions features a total of 285 submarine communication cables
  • This includes 263 in-service cables and 22 that should be in use by 2015

Buried deep beneath the world's oceans and seas is a network of underwater cables silently connecting even the remotest parts of the world to the web.
In fact, almost 95 per cent of the internet we use everyday is carried between countries through these fragile two-inch thick lines - and there is now more than half a million miles of cable underwater.
Washington-based firm TeleGeography has plotted all of these cables on an interactive map to reveal who owns the networks, their landing points and how far these cables can stretch.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

sh*t no wonder my internet smells fish'y some times

Let us hope Al Khaida doesn't read it......

I would have thought that this information should remain under wraps.

Let us hope Al Khaida doesn't read it......

America and her allies in the ISI, Pakistan intelligence, also encouraged the phenomena of "Jihad". All so that they could create anti Soviet resistance. During the Soviet - Afghan war, the Taliban were referred to by the U.S administration as "Freedom Fighters" and Jihad was honourable. The stench of lies, manipulation, covert operations and manipulation of the American peoples psyche go back far further than the WMD in Iraq scandal. 9-11 was an inside job and set the stage for more to come.

Put away the tin foil hat and read the "Looming Tower".

While the US supported the Mujahideen, Al Queda was a subset. While helping the Afghans kick out the Russians, after that the US washed its hands of the area. Some feel if the US had continued to fund the Afghans the situation wouldn't have allowed Bin Laden to grow and create the training camps. This is simplistic thinking at it's worst.

The growth of the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Queda was and is a continuing global problem.

P*rn will do that :D

This like other maps shows the poor international connections that Thailand has.

I use another site: http://www.cablemap.info/

Both sites have their advantages/disadvantages.

About "Al Khaida": fortunately they can not dive that deep.

But e.g. the main cable from Thailand to Europe is SEA-ME-WE-4 which has a land trail over Egypt.

In March 2013 some terrorists tried to cut it, which lead to major blackouts along the route.

And quite sure it is possible to find the exact locations/buildings of many landing points.
