SMTP Outgoing mail servers for MS Outlook

Featured Replies

By searching history I see this has been asked several times before. However some of the replies are very old & none of the things i have tried from old answers seem to work now.

I am using AIS Airnet on WIFI at home here and am trying to link to my ISP in New Zealand called slingshot.co.nz where my mail is routed from. I can receive mail but need a valid SMTP server to get outward & reply mails working. Any current advice please including outgoing server numbers. I am using Gmail meantime but I really want to get back onto my MS Outlook system for established addresses, groups, diaries & notes etc which my life revolves around.

Why can't you just set up Outlook to send and receive from that server? Ask your ISP for the names of their incoming and outgoing (POP and SMTP) servers and set up each email account in Outlook to query and send to those. Most ISP's have that info online so you can set up email.

Either that, or I'm completely misunderstanding your question?

Contact AIS and ask them which SMTP server the ISP is using. Sometimes the ISP's won't accept smtp servers from outside.

Alternatively, you could subscribe to an SMTP service, which will negate the need to change smtp settings when you travel. I have been using SMTP2GO for the last 4 years and have only had problems in hotels where they have setup their own mail gateway.

Once you try one of these services, you won't go back..................wink.png

this is an ongoing issue - affecting AIS. many thai ISP's it is generally solved by google for: isp name + smtp proxy ie.g. like outgoing smtp: smtp.3bbmail.com or something like that.
