Just received Passport back from UK consulate with Tourist Visa but with information sheet that from 15th January (with a months grace) no more Visas will be issued by Post.....

Everyone must now attend in person by appointment by order of Royal Thai Embassy London

Apologies if already been noted here but I certainly haven't noticed it....

Some of us are a long way away from nearest Consulate....

The Royal Thai Embassy in London commenced its visa application by post service on the 2 January 2014. Termination of visa services by post at the Royal Thai Consulates in the United Kingdom and Ireland (namely, the Royal Thai Consulates in Birmingham, Cardiff, Hull, Liverpool, Glasgow, Gibralta and Dublin) will be effective from the 15 January 2014.

Well if that applies it is in total contradiction of the letter I hold right now in my hand which clearly states "no applications will be accepted by Post anywhere from 15th january (with one months grace which resulted in mine being done thankfully.......

Anywhere to me includes London ?

Suspect your letter came from a UK Honorary Consulate.

I guess they might have 'forgot' to mention that mail ins are now offered by the Thai Embassy's Consular facility in London as they (UK Honorary Consulates) have now pretty much have been put out of business for anything other than drop in apply/collect Thai Tourist Visas, maybe plus certain classes of 90 Day Single Entry Non Imigrant Visas.

Could well be the case indeed......

The Consulates are all but finished now. Cant imagine any trade at all for Consulates like Cardiff

They still can still do single entry non-o visas for being over 50 that the embassy will not do because they only do the OA visa. Same for multiple entry non-o visas based upon being over 50 with embassy approval.

I think they will survive because there are a lot of people preferred doing in person or live near one of the consulates.

For tourist visas and other single entry non immigrant visas they probably will still be more flexible than the embassy.

Most will do them while you wait if you go in person also.

Seems like someone somewhere up the food chain really has it in for us Brits. I would have thought they would be doing more to encourage visitors under the circumstances, but apparently not...

Any theories?
