jb102670
Greetings from Texas. I just joined. I'm Jb 35 yr. male from Tx I just came back from Thailand, it was my first time there. I stayed two months, from 11-9-05 to 1-23-06. What a trip. Everything that can go wrong, did. I fell on the shuttle bus at L.A.X. The one that takes you to the airline terminals. At Bkk Airport, I spent 700 Baht on a private vehicle that took me to Khao San Road. The lady driver did not know where Khao San was. We got lost. When I got there at 3 a.m., I just entered the first guest house I saw and got a room. I put my bags in the room, then went in the shared bathroom. As I was wiping my butt, a blond european girl walked in on me. My second day there I got lost, I forgot where my hotel was. Ants invaded my bed inside my room in several Bkk hotels. I made the mistake of eating on my bed. I fell on a Bkk city bus, it was funny. By mistake, I ordered a large meal at a sea food restaurant. When the food was placed in front of me I was like 'damm'. The picture on the menu looked small. I made preparations to go to Krabi Town located in south Thailand. When I arrived at the tourist bus, all the blankets were being used and all the seats where taken. This nice, polite, british man offered me his seat. I met many british people, and all were very nice to me. Way to go Brits. I told one british man, 'Thailand is an unofficial British colony'. I drank 6.4 alcohol content Chang Beer. I then lost my Lonely Planet Thai Phrase Book and a phone I bought at Phantip Plaza. I bought an expensive knick knack gift at the James Bond Island. I went Kayaking near Krabi, the thai guy that was my partner was new on the job and did not know how to pilot the kayak. I did all the work. I went to Cambodia to do a Visa Run. It's called the old "Stamp in and stamp out'. When I got to Cambodia with an Israeli and a british man, the Cambodian Immigration told us that our visas where not in order. They wanted a bribe or as I called it 'they wanted to steal our money'. The Israeli got into a huge argument with them, they got our passports and threw them onto the table. We did not get ripped off because of this fierece Israeli. Way to go Israel. On our way back to Bkk, I gave him the nick name 'Star of David'. Other than that, I had a great time. I plan to go back. That's why I joined this forum. Jb

It's one block away from the Pier. Also, right outside the door you can get the small pick up transportation vehicle that takes you to AuNang Beach. It charges less than 40 baht. In Pataya I suggest the Tiger Zoo. They have an elephant show, tiger show and crocodile show. Also, near Pataya, there is the Elephant Village. You can ride the elephants, and touch them. For swimming in Pataya, go to the Coral Island. The water is clear, and there is a restaurant there also. Jb

mimiihu
hi. my first post here. i'm 30, computer technician in public library, have my own apartment and car, live in portugal and i'm travelling to thailand from 8 to 25 in may, with my thai girlfriend (she works in dubai). it's gonna be vacation and hopefully, the begining of my big step to a simple life. i wanna live and work there with my girl, preferbly a simple job (less technology related as possible). i guess i'll be needing some advice concerning job permits, real estate, etc., in the future but, for now, i'm just gonna relax my troubled spirit at the LOS for 3 weeks. thanks for having me. daleyboy
how much of a tip do people normaly leave daleyboy... perhaps i had better start saving right now... or better still i will just stay and avoid all costs Well its done on a sliding scale mate. Boys in blue charge 2000 baht tip or 2 crates of chang or 3 bottles of wine Boys and girls in red charge 1000 baht tip or 1 crate of chang or 1 bottle of wine As for the rest of us plebs we just charge a sense of humour and a laugh.
