"An old Mongolian Proverb: "When you see 2 bright eyes in the dark forest, it might not be a tiger, It might be 2 one eyed tigers"

Or it might perhaps also just be one normal tiger, plus its blind friend ? xohmy.png.pagespeed.ic.shABmucp9T.png

Shorten all long stay visa durations to 15 days.

The numbers of arrivals will double

Or extend visa-on-arrival from 30-days to 1-year, then all the permanent-residents on other types of visa-extension, will magically become tourists, and also stop needing to visit Immigration too ! whistling.gif

Well, we can hope ! wai2.gif

I don't know about H.K. but Australia's level includes the likely event of terrorist attacks, so how high can you get, pretty hard to promote a country that has it's main capital city in lock down under emergency decree, perhaps a ride in a tank will be on offer shortly. coffee1.gif

To be fair to DFAT's Travel Warning, the terrorist attack note is for the Southern Provinces and has been 'Red' for a while, whilst the rest of the country is 'Yellow' which is the second lowest alert level...

Perhaps they could promote "the Worlds Greatest illusionist " watch 500 million baht disappear before your very eyes and replaced with rotten rice . This trick has never been attempted before and requires total silence from the audience ( Thai nationals) or the illusionists might grow wings and fly west into a comfortable nests built in the Middle East .

What "qualty" tourist would want to visit a country that its capital is in SOE ?

What family man / woman would bring their family to Thailand with SOE?

Go back to the basic ... go for sex tourists ... offer a disney land style pass, xxxx baht to play all day

TAT doesn't know the meaning of the word "plan". All they know how to do is rename old campaigns and then attempt to promote them the way they did the old ones - poorly.

TAT should donate their entire marketing budget to the PTP and let them pay some farmers

The Malaysia Truly Asia campaign is the best of the past 30 years. Largely BS but a good campaign and Sally Yeh is a good front person. The last good campaign from Thailand is now 30 years ago when Thai airways were wearing Pierre Balmain. A tough brief.

Wasn't Michelle Yeoh the front for the 'Malaysia Truly Asia' campaign?

1, Lobby your 'government' to stop coming up with stupid ideas like charging tourists 500 baht to enter to dissuade 'non-quality' tourists.

2, Stop saying you prefer tourists from this or that country because they spend more (it craps all over the rest)

3, Run through all the jet-ski/taxi/tour scams (including bent cops) and string these people up on TV.

4, Get your house in order.

5, When you smile, mean it. whistling.gif

I agree fully on all 5... but you forgot one, Get Suthep jailed, than the list is complete.

Marketing plan ... lets try to help out.

Offer a free bag of rice and giant fire cracker for every tourist willing to visit LoS during the protests?

And money back guarantee in case of a military coup. That will do it!

TAT Launches “Totally Amazeballs Thailand” Campaign

AMAZEBALLS-copy-300x212.jpg

BANGKOK – In a concerted effort to rehabilitate the kingdom’s image as an attractive tourist destination in light of ongoing political unrest, the Tourism Authority of Thailand today announced a major new international PR campaign, headed by a new slogan. “Amazing Thailand, Always Amazes You, Totally Amazeballs” was unveiled via a massive ten-meter wide banner this morning at a press conference at the TAT head office presented by new TAT governor Thawatchai Arunyik.

the only tourists that will come whatever happens, are off course the sexpats ... come to offload their seed and be two week millionaires...

genuine tourists, they know better than to endanger their families

So please add if I missed something:

- Protesters in Bangkok against/in favour of the gobernment

- Rice farmers on their way to party....or so.

- Upcoming Monday THAI goes on strike.... anything else??

BUT this is the weak link because nothing will stop the sexperts from coming, only the "quality tourists" which are already gone for ever.

Almost every family or at least village in Isaan have daughter(s) working in the bars of Pattaya, Patong and so.

Wouldn't it be much more efficent if the working girls go on a strike? That would break the kingdom the neck in a couple of days.

No need for papa and uncle to take the long tractor trip down to the capital. Some phone calls would do it.
