Some advice on process please everyone

I'll soon be going to Thailand to get married and, during the same visit, sillw be submitting the settlement visa application.

Can I ask what the timescales are around process. For instance, is the waiting time of (? 3 months) the time between submission and interview or is the interview set up quick and the related decision (? 3 months)?

Just an idea of what happens when.

Also, do I need to be in Thailand to support her at the interview?

Thanks in advance

Hi Rob,

If the visa officer is satisfied with the application on the basis of the papers submitted, the visa might be issued in as little as 4-5 days. However, if your wife requires an interview she might be in for a month or so's wait.

Should an interview be deemed necessary, the visa officer will only speak to your wife (you won't even be allowed in to the embassy grounds), so there's no absolute need for you to attend, but your missus might want some moral support.

A decision will be made either after an intial inspection of the paperwork or at the conclusion of the interview.

Cheers,

Scouse.
