Air Asia did have direct return flights to Bali, i dont know if they still do

We flew with them and booked are accomodation through Asiarooms which was not expensive

We stayed 10 nights but 5 would have been enough

They don't fly out of Phuket, but Vietjet, a new budget airline in Vietnam, is very very cheap.

I picked a random day in March. You can fly from Bangkok to Ha Noi for 285 baht - of course, the taxes etc go on top, which made it 1342 baht.

Flight leaves at 14:30 - which is good.

On my last visa run to Ho Chi Minh City, I paid $50US for a return ticket to Nha Trang. They were great.
