sriracha john
UPDATE... guess they never got around to actually charging him last month as per Jai Dee's update Ratchaburi senator to be charged in murder case Police are to file a lawsuit against Ratchaburi Caretaker Senator Napinthorn Srisanpang alleging he masterminded the murder of former Thai Rak Thai Party MP Kobkul Nopamornbodee on May 27, the chief investigator said Thursday. Lt-General Montree Jamroon said investigators had concluded the case report and prepared to submit it to public prosecutors to proceed to a court trial on a date to be decided by Crime Suppression Division (CSD) commander Maj-General Winai Thongsong. "Police worked hard on this case and were not disheartened by the fact that suspects were influential figures. Since witnesses and evidence were solid, we feel confident that we can bring the perpetrators to be punished," he said. Three other suspects - member of Muang Ratchaburi municipality and Sri Muang Market manager Anantasak Srisawas, Anont Phanrat and Winyu Rattanawannee - will face charges of conspiracy to murder, Montree said. They are currently detained at the CSD office and will soon be transferred to prison. The Nation

Forgive me for being cynical, but maybe now that Ratchaburi's finest are finished "working so hard" on this case they can make some progress in the murder of the Aussie nurse. No updates on that for awhile.
sriracha john
UPDATE... guess they never got around to actually charging him last month as per Jai Dee's updateRatchaburi senator to be charged in murder case Police are to file a lawsuit against Ratchaburi Caretaker Senator Napinthorn Srisanpang alleging he masterminded the murder of former Thai Rak Thai Party MP Kobkul Nopamornbodee on May 27, the chief investigator said Thursday. UPDATE... guess they never got around to actually charging him from six months ago as per Jai Dee's update and have now given up altogether Former senator escapes murder charge Public prosecutors Wednesday decided there was insufficient evidence to put former senator Napinthorn Srisanpang on trial on a charge of masterminding the murder of former Thai Rak Thai MP Kobkul Nopamornbordee. Three men accused of shooting Kobkul dead in Ratchaburi last May must wait for their trial to open on February 1. Head prosecutor Sompong Tangsiri said current evidence was not sufficient to put Napinthorn on trial. Criminal Litigation Department Director-General Sermkiat Woradit and national police chief Kowit Wattana had approved the decision. Sompong said that although prosecutors had ended the case, investigators could reopen it and put Napinthorn on trial if they found new evidence within 20 years. The victim's relatives, who were not happy and still wanted legal action against Napinthorn, could file a lawsuit because the prosecutors' decision did not affect the relatives' right to sue, he added. The former senator's lawyer Manoon Sopha said Napinthorn - who was not present in court - still remained in Bangkok and did not want to sue the investigators because the prosecutors' order not to put him on trial was proof of his innocence. Jai Dee
Family of deceased Kobkul demand police to gather more evidence The family of deceased Thai Rak Thai Party MP Kobkul Nopamornbordee would like the Royal Thai Police to find more evidence after the prosecuting attorney has decided not to prosecute former Ratchaburi senator Napinthorn Srisan-pang who is allegedly behind Mrs. Kobkul’s assassination. Mr. Manit Nopamornbordee, the husband of Mrs. Kobkul, together with their children and about 50 villagers from Ratchaburi province submitted a document to national police chief Kowit Wattana, demanding the police to gather more evidence of this murder case. According to the prosecuting attorney, the evidence is still insufficient. However, Mr. Manit is confident of the police and he believes that they have done their best. Mr. Sanit said he does not want to set the dateline for the police, but he would like them to work cautiously and arrest the criminals. Pol. Maj. Gen. Prawut Thavornsiri, the Royal Thai Police secretary, said if the relatives of Mrs. Kobkul have additional evidence, they can submit them to the investigating officials so case can be reconsidered.
