webfact
'Chalerm' vows to take all demonstration sitesBANGKOK, 18 Feb 2014, (NNT) - Chalerm Yuubamrung, Director of the Center for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) and Labor Minister, has vowed to reclaim all of the 5 demonstration sites long held by PDRC protesters.According to Chalerm, the operation to reclaim protest sites has gone smoothly so far. CMPO officials have successfully taken control of the Energy Ministry and detained more than 80 protest leaders and supporters, who will be subject to punishment for violating the Emergency Decree.Officials will carry out their operation everyday until all the 5 sites taken by the protesters have been returned, Chalerm said, adding that officers from the site taken back from the protesters will be sent to help taking back Government House. He promised that authorities would not conduct the operation in the evening.Chalerm reiterated that the CMPO would abide by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s demand that it refrain from using force in its mission. He also expressed his confidence that the continued operation would be successful and without violent incident; in spite of reports that a large number of protesters mobilized from Suratthani and Chumpon by the PDRC would arrive tomorrow.-- NNT 2014-02-18

Popular Post Scamper
" Chalerm reiterated that the CMPO would abide by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s demand that it refrain from using force in its mission. " If this is the line Chalerm is using, he will be strongly contradicted by historians. The police were authorized to use live rounds on the protesters at one site. They threw canisters of tear-gas on people who were sitting and praying at another site. There have been three deaths, and dozens wounded. Chalerm may feel comfortable and smug nestled in the safety of press photographers, but he is a coward by any definition. And the actions of the police will now rest squarely on his shoulders.

Popular Post gemini81
Go Chalerm! Time to be kicking ass and taking names. And you're doing it today. Fortunately you don't have to listen to the arm chair, tin foil hat generals on TVF. Get it done. That has to be sarcasm otherwise it simply can't be taken without laughing out loud.

Prbkk
Tragic events today but overall he has managed this delicate situation with great dexterity. With public opinion so strongly on his side, the protesters will be cleared off in short order...one hopes with minimum force but simply a very firm hand.
