ANTI-GOVERNMENT RALLY
CMPO to take protesters' case to charter court

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The caretaker government's command Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) will ask the Constitutional Court to rule on whether the ongoing anti-government activities are lawful and whether they should be allowed to continue if peace is to be maintained.

A request for a legal interpretation would be made next week and will be backed up by 50 packs of documents, apart from pictorial, video and audio evidence, CMPO member and head of the Department of Special Investigation, Tarit Pengdith, said yesterday.

Tarit said an appeal would soon be made against a Civil Court order, which stated that the anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee's activities were legal if carried out in a peaceful manner.

Tarit dismissed as untrue a statement by former Democrat Party MP Boonyod Suktinthai that the CMPO had spent Bt10 billion on police and soldiers for security duties during the PDRC's campaign.

He said the Cabinet recently approved an unspecified amount to be spent on security, which would then be approved by the Election Commission.

Could it be that Tarit lies, as I posted on a rice topic :

At a meeting of the rice policy committee (chair absent) a member of the National Budget Bureau which administers the state’s contingency budget told the meeting that CMPO had already applied to the fund for 10 billion to pay riot police.

This was reported elsewhere today.

Now they plan to spend more trying to save face by going to the constitution court.

A court which the previous PT Govt refused to accept a ruling from.

What has their SOE achieved except squandering a huge amount of funds that could have been better spent paying the rice farmers.?

The protesters are complaining that it cost too much to pay for the police that are needed to control the protests?

I know the perfect way that they can save the elected Government some money. Go Home.

Elected?

Yes,elected. Do you have a problem with that? I cannot believe the desperation of you and your "brothers in arms" attempts to denigrate the government in some pathetic attempt to score "points" on this forum. If you want to debate issues, do so.

Enough PTP MP's were formerly elected to be able to form a government. They are now in the process of elections and are now known as a caretaker government. They do not lose the the status, of having been previously elected, in that process.

That's not a Charter Court issue, they'll kick it back to the Criminal Court.

I think CMPO should focus on Suthep, because he'll need to be ditched to clear space for a democrat electable leader. There's no way Suthep can ever hold power now, not when he was talking up popcorn people and trying to stir up violence / calling for a military leader to take over (i.e. a call for a military coup threat on the back of civil war threats).

So all sides can agree on one thing. Suthep is gone. Even if they can't agree on the way forwards.

True. Just the same as me. I previously was married. Now, I am divorced and still have the status of having previously been married. I also previously attended kindergarten (graduated), band camp, and many other activities. Weren't the Democrats also a previously elected government?

Look at this this way, If Mr. Suthep can do it, when why can the Redshirts do it as well? Do unto Others as they do unto You - RIGHT? So now - WHY and WHAT are you complaining about.

"Mommy, Mommy, he hit me! Well now son, you hit him first didn't you? Yes mommy! But he should have hit me back. Waaaaah.... That's unfair mommy!!!"

Does this include asking the court if the closure of the NAAC office is legal? And if not included......DOUBLE STANDARD! BIAS! FACISTS!.....so thats out of my systems so early in the morning.

Why does this administration continue to make multiple legal appeals when they don't get the verdicts they seek ?

Because they have the right to appeal. Just as everyone has the right to make multiple allegations.

Yet another "unspecified amount". It is time these people were ordered to open their accounts to the public so that the public are aware of what they are spending their money on. This is nothing short of authoritarianism at it's best if not dictatorship - we will spend your money in how we see fit and you are not permitted to ask why, how, or how much. Pathetic. How much will go out the back-door?

With the UDD protesting in 2010 against an illegitimate government formed by elected MP's, the PDRC would have good reasons to protest already on only the lack of legitimacy of a Pheu Thai led government which is controlled and commanded by a criminal fugitive abroad.

If you have been following the antics of the police - not CMPO propaganda - the sum mentioned (and denied by the stooge Tarit without revealing what it is) has been completely wasted on total lack of any attempt (except for one disastrous failure)to either control the protestors or prevent violence against them.

I'm sure they will go home when the Shin clan does the same.
