Sunday actually best day to go. Roads are quieter and get there quicker.

Or like your car battery failing on a wet day in a petrol garage forecourt north of Chiang Rai a couple of years ago, as happened to me. I got jump started but then had the dilemma of pushing on and knowing that I would have to hope it started again after the border crossing. It did. Just. And why do batteries only last about 2 years out here .... another topic for another day.
