BANGKOK: -- Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and several cabinet ministers were seen wearing peace pendants while performing her official duties to inspect drought situation in Khon Kaen and Chaiyahum provinces.

Curious reporters asked her about the unusual appearance of the white peace pendant on the neck with the dress, Ms Yingluck said that she bought the ceramic peace pendant from and OTOP outlet in Lampang province.

She said the peace pendant has great meaning of peace and that prompted her to wear it yesterday.

But she made clear that she did not only want the peace pendant to signal only living peacefully together but on wider meaning.

She wanted not only to stay together with peace and happiness, but also to live with justice and equality.

She said she wanted to see equal treatment of all sides with mercy and generosity, stressing that all these would bond Thai people together to have peace in minds and lived happily.

Seen wearing the peace pendant is the caretaker Transport Minister Chadchat Sittipun and her advisory team.

The caretaker prime minister and her advisory team wore the peace pendants yesterday as the Constitutional Court would have a ruling on the government’s 2 trillion baht loan bill.

I think the bottom line with YS is that she probably is a decent person but she has this shadow called her brother constantly hanging over her pulling the strings. He picked her because he knows he can manipulate her.

I actually have wondered how she would do if she was on her own. With all her prepared-canned answers and her lack of command of the English language it is difficult to say IMO. Being a long time guest here I do not care who the government is but would like to see a bipartisan one in power that would take care of the Thai people and this wonderful country. For the first six months when TS first came to power I really had a good feeling about the government. After about one year he became scary.

The real problem in Thailand aside from a crooked government is the South which she has all but completely ignored. The death rate there from Terrorism makes the red shirt kill rate look minuscule. Yet she continues to ignore it.

I maintained and still maintain that if she had spent some time there endearing herself to the public and gaining their respect the public would be far more willing to stop protecting the terrorists. But they figure she doesn't care for them so why bother helping her.

Listen to me I am actually acknowledging she could do some thing good for the country. Of course there would be no money in it for her or her brother so why bother.

I to had high hopes for her even though I knew Abhist was the most qualified for the post. Even after the fiasco she made on the 2011 flood handling I had hopes but she never lived up to them and I now see why. She is just not mentally built to handle the job.

The strategy of Pheu Thai has really come down to sympathy. But really, all the things that Yingluck is experiencing would have been completely unnecessary if she had stepped down over two months ago when she reputedly was on the point of doing. The statements she makes show a profound disconnect to what is going on around here. She may feel comfortable in Khon Kaen, but she seems completely reluctant to do what she must do - and that is appear before the NACC. The latest is that she wants to put off her appearance for 45 days. Does she realize the signals she sends by doing that ? Especially as it happens con-concurrently with trying to impeach a member of the NACC - not to mention six judges of the Constitutional Court - at the same time. When you are devoting your time to trying to undermine the legal system, your excuses for delaying appearances become painfully transparent. Yingluck gives the impression that they are not worthy of her time. It is impossible to imagine anyone conveying less respect for the judicial system of checks, balances, transparency, and accountability.

I think the answer is no. The reason she's PM may be because of her brother but the reason she can't do the job very well is because she isn't a politician.

If she wanted the job she should have started at the bottom not the top but even then she might have found it difficult as she was never interested in politics. At least if she'd done that you could admire her for trying.

Even if she wanted to do things properly now it would be difficult or impossible as she can't really work her way up now and she tainted by the association with her brother.

She's an adult so she should have known better but you have to feel a little sorry for her the way she's been treated by Thaksin.
