This thread is about buffet restaurants in Thailand. I only know some in BKK but feel free to post any buffet restaurant.

=Sizzlers

=Central World Plaza, 5th (or 6th, it is the lowest restaurantfloor of the 2) when you come out of ZEN it is on the righthandside, International buffet 480 baht incl softdrink/starters/desert. They have sushi/sashimi/pizza/shumai/fried chickenwings/lumpia/saladbar/thai food/steaks/soups/much more.

I know some more but have to think.

=Royal Princess Hotel BKK

=Oishi

That's my budget for two full days for a household of 7.

Moo katat at B90 each is more our style, all you can eat, includes sushi and ice cream. Bring our own bottled water decanted from the huge B25 drinking fountain bottles we get home-delivered.

Used to like Oishi's hot pot place (Sushishi?) in the days I had money. . .

Wym is right. Moo Kata/Krata is excellent and cheap. If you want the fun and price of Japanese railways 300B a head

for 90 minutes, I think, Shabushi is best

So this is your kind of buffet in Thailand? And that for an ex new Lexus driver?

Moo kra ta

Shabushi we never tried, my wife doesn't like it. We checked the buffet one time to see what's on and it was almost empty so we didn't want to go there and never came back to it. I need a full buffet rolleyes.gif

miracle grand convention hotel don muang

This hotel has a japanese buffet, 600-650 a person. I have been there a few times but it was not worth the money. Sushi is ok but many times the buffet is empty or dishes are not availlable while you pay the full price. If you want to eat much salmon then this is a good place.

Yes i know 650 baht is a lot of money upcountry. For BKK it is nothing special though. Look at the cars in the parkinggarage of this hotel and you know enough.

Swiss hotel BKK also has a japanese buffet, forgot the price but it was even worse then in the Miracle grand.

Yes, I've gone up and down a half dozen times, over a quarter mill USD per year was my peak late 80's, that's when I bought the Lexus.

Before that I was a hippy building a mud brick place out in the bush of Victoria, dole bludger plus worked for cash at the local slaughterhouse.

After that TEFLing in Thailand.

Worked at least twenty completely unrelated careers, income wise, never seemed to be able to settle in the middle.

The poorer decades have definitely been much happier than the wealthier ones.

A nice middle ground is the Cafe G buffet for lunch and dinner at the Holiday Inn near Ploenchit BTS...

299++ baht per person for either lunch of dinner. Good food and freshly prepared in a clean, comfortable environment. That includes an unlimited soft drinks fountain and complimentary ice water, as well as a nice selection of Thai and western deserts.

The best bargain choice I know is the buffet lunch at the Ibis Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 4 down the street from Nana Plaza. Nothing fancy, but for 199 baht net, they have a nice selection of Thai and western hot dishes, Thai entree salads and a western-stye salad bar, simple rice roll sushi, soups, cut fruit, ice creams and some simple cake slices for desert. Ice water, hot tea or hot coffee included.

For a more local feel that's a step up from the typical moo krata place, there's the Best Beef semi-outdoors (covered, open air) restaurant on Sukhumvit Road a short walk inward toward town from the OnNut BTS station. Only open for dinner, but your choice of a 20+ item menu of buffet items that you cook yourself at table either on a charcoal-heated grill plate (200 baht) or in a Thai style soup pot (250 baht). Any drinks (including Thai beers) and deserts are extra. But the buffet menu (order, eat as much as you want) includes 4 or 5 different varieties of thin sliced beef, pork, chicken, fish fillets, beef-rice bowls, french fries, and your choice of an assortment of veggies (Chinese cabbage, asparagus, onions, mushrooms, etc).

There are quite a few prior buffet threads here on ThaiVisa, including many that focus on the fancy hotel offerings where prices of 1000-2000 baht per person are not uncommon. I do think the 100 or so baht moo krata places are a bargain, but I've had too many experiences of stomach discomfort after eating at various of those places, given that their uncooked meats sit out, and often uncovered, for hours at a time with often not much in the way of refrigeration.

I remember now, Sheraton Royal Orchid also has international buffet, 1000 a person without drinks. Good food, nice terrace at the waterside, bad service. They even can't make a good capuccino while having a fancy coffeebar at their terrace.

There are endless buffets, from the 89 baht mookatas, through themid-levels, like Shabushi and Shakishii, up to The Erawan, the Oriental and other hotel's big ticket spreads.

Personally, I prefer simple khao gaengs and other small shops. The food is usually better and "all-you-can-eat" is usually plenty cheap.

Yes i have been there once and won't go back, was very disappointed. If i recall correctly it was a only japanese buffet. Maybe you mean another buffet in that hotel? It was on that main road where all the "massage"-clubs are.

The Japanese is on the right,

The Main cafeteria buffet, is further to the left, and a step or two down

You have to walk past the bar,

the room is enormous

It also has sushi, and two chefs on either end of the buffet, for different foods

I appreciate a bargain chomp as much as spending up big.

You have given me a hopefully....fun night out when next in BKK.

My boy always tries to stop me spending up so we will try your suggestion thank you
