lorus59
For the last few days everytime I try to open Google search, Facebook or You Tube, i get this pop-up saying "www.google says WARNING!! your Flash Player may be out of date. Please update to continue." It gives the option of OK or close. When I close it a fake flash player page opens and I can't get rid of it. I did an anti-virus scan and it came up empty. I attached what the pages look like. I use XP pro. Any ideas how to get rid of it?

lorus59
My flash is up to date. I don't think this has anything to do with the real flash player.
KhunBENQ
A Google for "update flash player virus" delivers a lot of results. Looks like your problem. A video about the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFqh9g1Olx8 I quickly browsed some sites with instructions how to remove. Quite complicated and I hesitate to link one of them. The video suggests to use a utility named "Hitman Pro" and more. Without guarantee. Edited March 17, 2014 by KhunBENQ
Mrjlh
This is one of the biggest problems that "XP" users are going to encounter. There's been all sorts of warnings about this since Microsoft no longer provides security updates for XP. Upgrade to Win 7. Win 8 is useable but it has been a major failure for PC users. Make sure you have the latest "Malware software" also which is not always included in Anti-virus software.
lorus59
I can't open You Tube. This prevents me from opening it.
KhunBENQ
You use Chrome as I can see. As a last resort, you can try to reset Chrome browser. You will loose a couple of settings, but may be able to open desired websites. ? https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214 Reset your browser settings: Click the Chrome menu (can not paste the img) on the browser toolbar. Select Settings. Click Show advanced settings and find the "Reset browser settings” section. Click Reset browser settings. In the dialog that appears, click Reset. Note: When the "Help make Google Chrome better by reporting the current settings" checkbox is selected you are anonymously sending Google your Chrome settings. Reporting these settings allows us to analyze trends and work to prevent future unwanted settings changes. showtime22
I had the same problem for the last 3 days. Today I ran CCleaner, Avast virus , Hitman Pro, MalwareBytes. Now its working again. No idea which one finally fixed it. Edited March 17, 2014 by showtime22
Sheryl
I am having the same problem, on a Mac using Firefox. With me also, appears to have nothing to do with an actual flash player.
noise
Sometimes this type of occurrance can be corrected by checking your start menu. I had similar problems and found UPDATE FLASH or something like that somehow inserted itself into the start at boot up and/or start on opening browser. rhythmworx
My XP fresh install today is fine. Updates are available until the end of April. I use win 7 but the XP system is a server protected by my win 7 computer. Hitman Pro is the strongest of all you ran and its worth buying if you are going to continue to run XP. wilson777
I dont know if you have fixed this problem but it is not an attack on your computer, rather it is a global attack on routers and it can be easily fixed by resetting your router. read here for more details on the global attack on how to fix it http://wasconet.com/how-to-remove-warning-your-flash-player-may-be-out-of-date Hope it helps you guys
