Nonthaburi Immigration - restricted access from Route 9/Bang Yai

Featured Replies

I went to Nonthaburi Immi today, got to Big King and Big C Bang Yai OK, turned down the little slip road to go left as normal - fine.

However, after about a kilometre, the road was blocked by a big crane while they appeared to clearing the canal alongside. Great, what now?

So, the way to get there now is this (which I was lucky to find out by trial and error).

Just before the road blockage, you have to turn right over a bridge on the canal. Follow this road, which twists and turns through a housing estate, until you come to a T junction with traffic lights. Turn left there and follow quite a big road for about, ooh say 4 kms (I didn't check). You will eventually see a sign pointing left and saying 'Nonthaburi Immigration'. DO NOT take that first turning - the road is blocked about 500 metres down it.

Go past that sign and you'll soon see a large-ish one-storey shopping complex on your left with a Lotus Express in it, and about a dozen other shops. Carry on past there a few more kms and THEN you'll see a large temple complex on your left and also another sign pointing left for Nonthaburi Immigration.

Take THAT turn left, the temple complex (forgotten the name - something like Wat xxxxxxxxx Pla Chon) will be on your right and just after is another T junction where you turn left.

You'll see the Immigration building on your right side just down the usual soi.

To get back, I just reversed the route until I hit Route 9 again.

I don't know how long the canal/road works are going on for. Wish I did.

HTH.
