My son has inherited the dreaded Eczema skin complaint from his mother. And we have taken him to a very well known skin hospital here in Bangkok...but all the creams and visits and the countless costs ain't working for my poor son. So does anybody here, know where I can buy, and tryout the Ezaderm cream? because the hospital who has tried to cure the skin problem doesn't use or sell it there sad.png

Please help my boy and if it works I will get my wife to use the same stuff.

Don't know about "exaderm".....but I have eczema and use a cream widely available in all pharmacies.

Active ingredient is called "triamcinolone Acetonide cream 0.1%....called Aristocort A manufactured by Wyeth. Comes in a black and gold box

Works great for me .....

Good Luck!

Perhaps this is best over in the health forum.

How old is your son, where is the atopic eczema located ?

What did the GP suggest so far in terms of diet ? and what medicated cream have you used on him.

Aristocort works well, however if the eczema is prone to flares ups another cream to look for is Betamethasone Valerate 0.1%, you may need to find a compounding pharmacist near Victory Monument or the hospital chemist to prepare for you.

Thanks for all your replies.
I have paid lot's of money for my son to visit skin doctors at the skin hospital in Bangkok.
So far with very little results achieved. We have tried Ezerra cream for the face areas and use two creams for the body areas like Diabederm. To answer the questions given by the posts, he has it allover his body and face. And we have been told to use a diet without dairy products like Milk,Butter,Cheese. I did look at the website and will try and by this cream if I can't find it in the local Bangkok chemist.

By the way how or where to move this post to the health section?

I think it's just a matter of trying out, different creams until the one works for him. Maybe i'll try the ones suggested here like Acetonide, Aristocort, Betamethasone creams, no harm done by trying them out.

Thanks.

Could do..........I wouldn't be putting too much of a potent glucocorticoid steroid on his face!

True, seems this exzaderm claims to be from natural/organic ingredients, while the stuff described is traditional pharmaceutics.

As usually in such cases, I have done specific google searches for sites from Thailand or sites in Thai language.

The result is very meager.

The only partly relevant result:

Exzaderm is in that huge list of care products.

A phone number is supplied.

EDIT: I am afraid this link is not worth much. In the end you will be directed to amazon.

I am afraid it will be difficult to impossible to buy it over the counter.

Yes agree. The Aristocort is good. I use the very mild one which is 0.02% active ingredient. There is also 0.1% strength as you mentioned. Both boxes look the same so you need to check for the strength. Always best to start with the mildest as corticosteriods aren't really good for the skin long term.

I don't think it is available here. Have someone back home buy it and mail it to you by regular post if you can, if not then can try the company's website to order but may run into customs problems especially if they use a courier.

The problem with corticosteriods is that it probably will solve the problem. But if the condition becomes chronic and returns, the person will turn to what helped best and that's why in the west Dr's frown upon prescribing them for the face.

It's only natural that the sufferer will turn to what helped previously, but could suffer more in the long term.

Hope your son gets sorted.

Forgot to mention that I have found pure coconut oil to be a very good emollient for eczema. It is widely available here. It has some anti inflammatory properties if you google it.

Have you tried Epsom salts bathing? I realize being in Thailand, you may not have a bathtub. In that case, sponge bath the areas from a bowl. Of course, same for the face. Epsom salts in Thailand is also know as magnesium sulphate. Try it. You may be surprised!

As for immediate relief, "original" Vaseline lathered on twice daily will work well too.

The exact same thing (mometasone) is available at pharmacies here under these brand names:

Elomet

Momate Cream

Mometasone GPO

Novasone

did you try extra virgin coconut oil ?

did you do an food sensitivities panel ?   Not allergies !  He would be in the hospital if he was allergic, but some food can cause sensitivities days after eating it.

the problem on the outside (skin) can be a sign there is a problem inside the body !

Sorry to hear of the problem and I sincerely hope you can find some relief which is long term.

My Thai nephew had a daughter about 18 years ago, she suffered skin problems from birth. They took her to many BKK hospitals and received very little response in terms of any real analysis and / or effective medication.

Nephew then took his daughter (at about 2 years old) to the Women's and Children's hospital in Singapore (long time ago so I don't know if the hospital still has the same name).

They went to the Singapore hospital early morning, the receptionist went quickly to see the specialist and mentioned that the family had to return to Bkk the next afternoon. The doctor saw the little girl immediately and started a detailed and calm conversation with the parents (luckily my nephew and his Thai wife both speak advanced English).

The doctor asked if they had brought the medications prescribed in Bkk (same creams had been prescribed by several bkk Specialists. The Singapore doctor was shocked, even asked if they had brought the right creams with them to Singapore. The Singapore doctor ordered a number of tests to be done as a priority (none of them had been conducted in Bkk - in fact specialists visits in Bkk had been very simple and very quick and one way conversation).

Singapore doctor then prescribed medications and told the nurse to get the creams and tablets from the hospital pharmacy urgently. Doctor politely supervised the parents to apply the cream etc, then asked the departure time of their flight and made an appointment for early afternoon the next day, then from the hospital direct to the airport.

Within I guess 7 days the cream / tablets reduced the problem quite a lot and within I guess 12 months it seemed to have gone. The doctor kept in contact and did mention that she doubted the problem would be totally cured and it did flare a little over a longer period.

Sorry I don't know the names of the medications.

My point, I hope obviously, is whether you need to see a more qualified / experienced specialist?

Good luck.
