Any good gout doctors in Pattaya?

The question is, why you have gout?

Blood pressure, heart failure, whatever.

Find yourself a doctor in a state hospital, they tend to know a lot about gout.

And it is the cheapest way.

They will probably describe colchicine to depress the urine crystals in your blood, anti imflammatory treatment to depress inflammation, and allopurinal to keep the level of urine in your blood low.

But go to a doctor, do some tests, etc.

Ik might be quite possible to get kidney stones fron gout.

No more beer, no chicken wings, legs and skin, careful with other meats, less alcohol.

Loose weight, if necessary.

Look up on the internet about necessary changes in your food.

Don't be surprised if you will find advises that are contrary to each other.

I do not know of a private doctor, but the one that I use is a doctor at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. Excellent. She helped me cure a severe outbreak over a year ago, and I have not had another attack. Attached is her email address if you want to setup an appointment: Dr. Nantharath

[email protected]

Gout can be so painful, and it is nice to know that I have it under control. Good luck.

What is in chicken legs, wings and skin and meat that is bad for him?

Probably purines. Same thing with alcohol, asparagus, and many other foods. I gave up the asparagus, but did not stop drinking. I live in Pattaya for gods sake!

Get the uric acid level in your blood checked and if it's high then start taking allopurinol. I've had gout on and off all my life and for the last 10 years here in Pattaya it's been well controlled by an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Thongsuk, at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. Of course, you can always switch to a diet of water and boiled rice but personally I find taking 150 mg of allopurinol a day rather more pleasant. smile.png

For a general practitioner I like to use Dr. Oliver. Always very

happy with his service.

He is a Swiss guy, speaks English, French and German and fluent Thai.

For anything major, I'd head down to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

I have been fighting the gout battle for 25 years. Everyone previously mentioned allopurinol and this is what did the trick for me. Even without eating the fat foods and drinking alcohol my uric acid level is on the "high side" of normal. I take 100 mg daily and the only time I get a flare-up is if I spend too much time in Pattaya and drink too much beer and eat "falang food" in excess.

If you start taking allopurinal you are likely to get a gout attack as the body initially reacts to the reduction of uric acid by creating more. Make sure you have a bunch of indomethacin anti-inflammatory pills and take them to reduce the pain and swelling. They work great but can cause some stomach discomfort as well as getting a bit light headed. Strong stuff but works within hours. The body should adapt to the new uric acid level in a few days and a daily regimen of the allopurinol should keep you gout free. You may have to experiment with the daily dose of the allopurinol. Some people get by with 100mg and other a lot more. My doctor in the States told me that he had patients who required as much as 500mg. Everyone is different.

There is a clinic in south Pattaya that takes blood samples and provides a print out of a bunch of related results. One of the checks is the uric acid level in the blood. I had a blood test done there about 9 months ago and it was 500 baht. The name of the clinic eludes me at this time but a search in the Pattaya forum should produce the name.

  • 1 year later...

My annual blood test showed everything normal except that my uric acid has jumped from 6.4 to 10.8, I was told that this is high but "not problem".

I have had no pain or discomfort but have been noticing a "sort of numbness" in my left big toe area.

What level is the uric acid at when you suffer from gout, am I very close or still far away? I am unable to find this information online and hope someone can help.

I Claudius et al.....much knowledge and experience in Pattaya. I've had gout for over 20 years. Different classes of drugs. If gout is new for you, gout is treated by ingesting two drugs simultaneously: Colchicine 0.6 and Indomethacin, which is a NSAID. Halt once diarrhea commences. This combo is for gout FLARE-UPS, not for long term treatment.

Long term you take Allupurinol. I'm on 300mg daily.

For those intolerant to Allupurinol, there is the Japanese developed antigout med called FEBUXOSTAT. Google this.

In USA and other countries it is marketed as ULORIC. Same stuff.

Foods such as red wine, red meats, chicken skin, etc are high in purines. They trigger a high uric acid level in the bloodstream. Once your blood is supersaturated, uric acid crystals precipitate out and lodge in lower extremities like big toe, ankle, foot, knee, hips etc.

Gout is really sneaky stuff. It masquerades and shape shifts. For me, I get a slight buzz in my joints, no fun.

Years ago, one side of my neck went numb! This spread to my right shoulder. I went to many specialists in USA. All stumped. In one weekend, the numbness included my right elbow, wrist and hand!

The tingling accompanied this spread of numbness. Gout had overwhelmed my 300mg per day of Allupurinol. I quickly resorted to a several days of colchicine and indomethacin, whew! Think of these two meds as emergency fire extinguishers! Use sparingly!

Long story cut very short: Colchicine has been around since 1700s, derived from belladonna plant. A 30 day supply in USA used to be $12 USD. An American drug company repetitioned FDA to "certify" this time tested drug. Oh yeah...now rebranded as "ColChris" a 30 day supply will set you back $190 USD!!! Bottom feeder American drug companies. Yes...all gout patients had better stock up on colchicine before the USA led TPP makes colchicine in Thailand out of reach for most. American drug companies have no social conscience.

PS for all gout sufferers. Gout is genetic marker handed down to us by King Henry VIII. Google search "Electron microscope images of gout crystals." It is worth everyone's while to actually see what we are up against. Do not allow gout to go untreated. The razor sharp gout crystals do damage to one's joints.

Yes, gout is a hereditary DNA deal. If you have it, contact ALL family members. Women can get gout as well. More prevalent in males.

Good luck I Claudius.

Get busy and report back.....

If you are interested in a real kidney clean out that might work for you then Dr Schultz has a great kidney detox kit that helped me and my mates get rid of our kidney stones.

It basically involves drinking about 16oz of mixture of lemon and lime and cayenne pepper first thing in the morning then four cups of a herbal brew with some formulas dropped in the tea. You do that for five days and it really is amazing in restoring the kidneys.

You can also buy something called phosfood which is phosphoric acid which helps get rid of some types of kidney stones and keep acid levels down
