Not quite sure what is being asked.

Any one who qualifies can have tourist visa. Being HIV + not an issue and the question would never be asked.

No one is "expelled" from Thailand because of their HIV status.

Anti-retroviral medication is strictly controlled in Thailand and can only be "bought" if prescribed and then only from a hospital.

It would seem your friends are very badly informed .

Bad and inaccurate information helps no one.

thanks very much thepool,

Living a lot of time in Pattaya and Chiang mai I've always wondered if foreigners who have HIV can live in Thailand, my friends, probably not well informed, they told me that a tourist with HIV, if discovery is ejected, and the name is reported to competent authorities, so the person will never more come into thailand. for example, a tourist who goes on vacation in Tahilandia with HIV could not liveand stay there. Now I seem to have figured out that this is not true.

I seem to have figured out that a foreigner with HIV+ can buy anti retro viral therapy in hospitals ... I understand you correctly?

As above. There is no law which would cause an HIV person to be either deported or denied entry to Thailand, and there are many HIV+ foreigners living here long term -- as well as, of course, a much larger number of HIV+ Thais.

A foreigner can be treated for HIV here and there are some excellent HIV specialists especially in Bangkok. The antiretroviral medications must be prescribed by a doctor.

See this thread for names and addresses of doctors and lcinics specializing in HIV http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/285198-hiv-testing-and-treatment-in-los-doctors-meds-costs/
