webfact
UDD and PDRC demonstrations were harmless, but PDRC refused to cooperate with police, says CAPOBANGKOK, 7 April 2014 (NNT) - The Assistant Director of The Center for the Administration of Peace and Order, or CAPO has stated that the rallies of the two groups of demonstrators, the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) and the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) were orderly, however, he added PDRC's refusal to cooperate with police, slowed down the police job.Pol General Worapong Chewprecha, acting Assistant Director of CAPO stated the rallies of both demonstrators last weekend were without violence. The checkpoints discovered 7 guns, 1 grenade, and a knife. However, there was a shooting at army officials at Wat Benchamabophit or the Marble Temple, near Government house. According to an investigation, the trajectory was from the Student and People's Network for Thailand's Reform (STR)'s bunker. If there is evidence, they will investigate the rally site. Pol General Worapong added he will adopt the same defensive measures CAPO used on April 5th, the day of the ruling on the Prime Minister's duty by the Constitutional Court, since it was effective and no harmful incidents occurred. However, Pol General Worapong said that he is worried about PDRC's refusal to be investigated by CAPO or police. CAPO is asking the army to help the investigation because PDRC is more willing to cooperate with the army. The refusal obstructs the work of police since it is obvious that both groups of demonstrators are armed. CAPO has closely observed the rallies, and if any violent incidents happen, officers immediately move in to prevent harm.Pol General Worapong also mentioned the intensive safety measures for tourists and popular tourist areas during the Songkran festival. So visitors can be relaxed and enjoy the festival.-- NNT 2014-04-
thesetat2013
Sure lets all go out with our water guns and dont worry if you are shot by a stray bullet or a piece of shrapnel. And if you see a hundred police running your way shoot them with water because they wont trample you to get where they are going. Believe Worapong in that you are protected and completely safe. NOT!!! I will have my songkran in another city far from bkk Sent from my GT-S5310 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app Edited April 7, 2014 by thesetat2013

WoopyDoo
Of course the protesters are armed, they have to be.... They don't get any assistance from you lot, and there is plenty of dubious goings on that suggest the police are involved heavily with the attackers. You will move in to protect people will you? When you are unarmed and being helped by an army that is equally unarmed and driving around at night in songkran shirts.... That is protection????? Don't make me laugh.

bigbamboo
Given that CAPO, the police, the UDD and the redshirts are all as one it's hardly surprising CAPO should cast aspersions on their common enemy... the PDRC. With the UDD rally being such a flop and Big Daddy in Dubai already livid somebody at CAPO had to say something positive to keep him from chewing his favourite Persian carpet.
Eric Loh
Clever piece of marketing by the UDD. After the mayhem created by them in 2010, this peaceful and short rally really put shame to the PDRC violent and prolong rallies which paralyse many major intersections in Bangkok recently. Suterp must do more by calling their allies Student Network and Issara Buddha to stop their rallies and join him in Lumpini. And also stop the paralysing of government offices and intimidation of public and private businesses. He needs a wholesale marketing overhaul or he will not be seen as peaceful protest by the general public even if their friendly court said so. Popular Post GeorgeO
said with a straight face...the police are redshirts anyway why would they co-operate.. It really is unbelievable isn't it...!? The anti-government protesters would have undoubtedly had faith in the police when they first emerged, but it became clear, very quickly, that the police were right there with the Red Shirts, so why on earth are they now crying foul that they are not receiving cooperation from the (more peaceful) protesters? Furthermore, when CAPO/DSI make statements that they intend to examine the speech made by Suthep, where he is alleged to have made suggestions of a people's coup, why is it that they did not immediately arrest Jatuporn when he made his venomous "war" speech? PTP / Yingluck / police / DSI / CAPO double standards, that's why....!!
Popular Post Nickymaster
What a bunch of hypocrites in the Police Force. Their attitude really makes me sick. THEY are the main reason this country is so corrupt and in such a mess. They enforce laws as they wish. They arrest people as they wish (regardless of court orders). The Police is 100% controlled by Thaksin and his family and friends. By not investigating violence against anti government protestors they are basically supporting it. They have made numerous statements saying that it is the PDRC's own fault if they are attacked. There were two cases that anti government protestors were violent. Once at the stadium during the Red shirt rally and once with the popcorn shooter. In both cases people were arrested. There have been a few dozen cases that the anti government protestors were attacked and I believe that around 20 people including children have been killed. Nobody was caught by this Red police even though images and video footage was available in some cases. Even more disgusting is the fact that government officials, including the police and Red shirts leaders have been celebrating the killings on stage. Instead it became a joke. Love it how the Red lovers always find a way to turn it into something positive for their clan. Funny. And yes, Suthep is doing a great job. YS, the "leader" of Thailand is 90% of the time hiding in the north. Edited April 8, 2014 by Nickymaster

Disarm all people and every one will be free. This is part of the beliefs of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and many others. If the people can not defend themselves, than we have more killing fields. But I want every one to understand that the police are from the government, they are there to help you and you can trust them.
