SUMMARY

CAN YOU FIX UBUNTU/WINDOWS ISSUE ON ACER LAPTOPS AND CAN YOU MAKE A VISIT TO DO THESE AND CAN YOU UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT I WOULD LIKE BELOW? IF SO WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD EMAIL ME OR SEND ME YOUR NUMBER OR SHOPS NUMBER WHO CAN DO A HOME VISIT TO ME TO DO THE BELOW STEPS...basically need 2 laptops fixed and a wireless router system set up (i think that is what you would call the below list of stuff)

....IF YOU CAN DO IT TODAY OR TOMORROW WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!

I am looking for a tech expert who can make a home visit near ga suan gel in chiang mai.

I just bought a new acer e1-470 to replace my old acer 4540 and had linux ubuntu and windows preinstalled. Ubuntu won't load after I put in the password ie the screen just goes blank. I did some internet searching on the old laptop and this is an issue with some acer laptops it seems - there is a work around but I don't know how to implement as I am not very technical. I couldn't get the wired connection to start on windows either....so the new laptop is not working at all for me.

The old laptop was fine but it just shuts down as it always overheats.

I would like a computer wizard to come over and

NEW UBUNTU LAPTOP e1-470 acer

1. fix the NEW laptop ubuntu so that it works.

2. on ubuntu show me how to access the list of program files as the computer does not show a list of installed programs. This was a problem with my earlier linux but I found a work around so that was okay.

3. install google chromium browser

4. install midori browser

5. show me how to open Movie Player (as it is showing as installed but won't play certain files)

6. make Movie Player able to open certain voice files I think they are MPEG4 EEAAC or something like that can't remember but again there is a fix on the internet but I can't implement (and anyway can't open ububtu at all anyway now since it won't load)

WINDOWS (WHICH IS ON THE NEW LAPTOP e1-470 acer)

7. get this working so that it can access the internet - can't get the wired connection to work so it won't go online

8 set up microsoft security essentials or whatever the current system is for windows 7

9. check that windows is correctly set up with the installation disc I gave so that is a registered copy of windows so I don't get a surprise from windows and have to call them on Christmas day (which I had to do one and a nice thai lady answered the phone which raised my perceptions of microsoft significantly)

10. clean the fan or fix why it overheats if that is possible - it is about 3 years old so it may just be about to die...but it seems to be now slower than the new one it usually actually works which is more than i can say for the new one which has 2 operating systems none of which work yet

11 set up a wifi system so that my ipad can connect to the new laptop windows- so that i can access itunes (which I have never been able to access to this time since I didn't have windows and ubuntu does not have itunes). Main thing also would be that the ipad should be able to use the wired internet connection on both the laptop...so when ipad sim internet is not work it can use the wired connection etc

12. anything else you think i need...eg like I guess I need a router for the ipad to talk to the computer or for the second laptop to use the wired connection of the other computer perhaps so you don't need to keep removing the wire and plugging it between computers? don't know basically would appreciate some advice on that...

13. would like total price in advance and confirm what you can do

14. must be an onsite visit since this needs to be set up so it is all ready to go with any further tech input on my part....

To get you out of troube

Buy a Cooling Pad.

Or a Computer tech can open it up and clean the fan chip to get rid of the dust.

new computer....return to store. I've been using a chromebook for a year and it has been flawless.

Not sure if he can do what you want but I have used him with great success as have other posters.

Many thanks for the suggestions those are all great and I will call Suchart and see if he can sort this out for me and all the other stuff I had never got round to doing before at the same time.

I did get one of those under laptop fan things and it has helped but the laptop still overheats quite often - I think it may be as I don't like to use much air-con so the room is already a bit warm...maybe will see if Suchart can fix the fan at the same time may do the trick...

I could go back to the store but have been back there once already- so am looking to terminate these PC problems in one final go if possible this time!

I might need similar service. My Dell Netbook ( came with Ubuntu) has been running mac os ten,great for years. originally set up by my buddy who is a self made Hackingtosh buff, until he tried to upgrade it to snow leopard. Now the thing is dead and we are not sure how to progress.

In your set-up, there is a cpu temp monitor, that will automatically shut down the system when the temp hits the set level. You can raise it a couple of degrees, but make sure your fans are clear, they can have globs of dust on them. I encountered similar problems when I lived in the Sonoran Desert. It's been about 10 years, but factory default might be 40c, and you can raise it a couple of degrees.

should be able to return it to original factory settings in set-up.
