Treatment for Cellulitis

Featured Replies

Hiya All,

After being diagnosed with Cellulitis in my right foot two weeks ago I am now coming to the end of my antibiotic course, but a little concerned as I still have pain in my foot and feel the infection has not gone completely.

I am currently in Bang Lamong so any advice on reputable Doctors or Hospitals would be welcome.

Kind regards

Suggest either:

Queen Sirikit Hosp in Satthip or

Phyathai Sri Racha, contact their marketing person Gavin ([email protected]) for suggestion re doctor.

The first will be less expensive than the second but expect long waits/red tape, while the second will be more ocnvenient

Wherever you go, a blood count (CBC) should be done (will indicate if an infection is still present) and if the white blood count is elevated but the redness around the skin has resolved, then an Xray should be done to rule out osteomyeltis (infection in the bone). If the doctor does not spontaneously suggest this, ask ("Would it be a good idea to get an Xray just t be sure there is no osteomyeltitis present?")

Cellulitis can take a long time to treat, success is dependent on how good blood circulation is, general health and infection type. You need follow up and probably a longer course of antibiotics.

Thank you so much Sheryl, Pollywaffle for your prompt and informative replies.

I omitted to say the tablets I have been taking was Amoksiklav 1000mg. I will ask for the Xray as that sounds serious about infecting the bone.

It still is very tender between my toes.

Thank you again. ;-)
