geriatrickid
In the case of those involved with the vehicular collisions with the police officers, it will be a criminal record. The lower courts do impose that penalty on the perps if they are neither wealthy nor well connected.

They're not shirtless by choice, it's a way the police use for temporarily identifying those that they have an interest in. F4UCorsair
They have introduced the hoon law in OZ, so all those bikes would be confiscated. End of story. Not permanently for a first offence though. Our soft cock politicians watered down what the cops wanted, and it's now multiple offences before a hoon sees his car/bike taken permanently. Well if that's the fine for the offences that they've been charged with what's the problem? That's the procedure with any crime, get caught, get fined and on your way. No need to denegrate the police for doing a good job, nothing to do with show and tell unless you apply that description to every reported operation
Loles
Good to see the police does anything in this sensitive case. The problem it is mostly 500 B fine not more, and nothing will be changed. Than these small monkeys get died by crazy riding and racing and their family talks about bad luck and bad karma instead of a very simple idiocy. Yeah...the hoon law superseded the previous outdated law which was repealed to make way for the introduction of the law that was brought in to adjust the amended law which was suspended....... So many laws, OZ the police state. One of the main reasons why I am here and loving it

No need to denegrate the police for doing a good job, nothing to do with show and tell unless you apply that description to every reported operation The main point being made is that the fine is not an effective deterrent. Unless there is a sea-change in society culture this scenario will happen time and time again. The show and tell is a standard placebo by those in power to placate the uneducated. What would be more fruitful is to build a proper racing track for these youths, but that would lose revenue, so it would never happen.

Fine is minimum Baht 10K or thirty days in jail; impound the bikes with a Baht 20K impound fee. If impound fee is not paid within thirty days auction the bikes off to highest bidder. As others here have said a Baht 1K fine is a joke.
Popular Post Tomtomtom69
Well it's good these knuckleheads were caught. I remember arriving back on the western outer ring road (Kanchanaphisek road) near Bang Khae from Kanchanaburi's Sangkhlaburi district around midnight about 2 years ago and there were dozens of these racers driving the WRONG WAY down Kanchanaphisek road! I exited for the frontage road and then stopped at McDonald's for a meal, watching the idiots risk their lives from the safety of the inside of the store. I hope more arrests like these are made, but it would be good if police also started impounding motorcycles of riders caught not wearing helmets, speeding etc. who are unable to pay their fines. If the Vietnamese police can do that, then why not the Thai police? This particular case is a step in the right direction, but it could also just be a one time publicity stunt.

Why are you suggesting others that you don't agree with to stay home?!! Who in hell put you in charge?! A government sponsored race track comes to mind.
