robblok
My dads ipad kept rebooting and freezing they then showed him how he could (and had to) close all his apps as they stayed open even if you exit the app. It helped and the IPAD did not freeze or reboot anymore. Stupid though that apps did not close themselves after exiting. As i recall you had to press two buttons and then you could see all open apps. rumbo1
Good luck ! I have got iPad 1 and mine keeps crashing all the time . I have tried everything to cure the problem , ie re boot , closing all the windows and eventually deleting everything and restored it to factory settings but still it keeps crashing . When I look in the diagnostics it says low memory caused crash. I only started getting these problems after I could not do anymore software upgrades , is it apples way of trying to force me to buy new product ? My neighbour has I pad 2 and that freezes regularly
Jeffrey346
It's a common yet simple fix. You most likely have too much stuff on it and it does not have enough memory to move data properly. Get rid of the stuff you rarely use and it should be fine.
jaycor
I have an iPad 2 with the same problem. Was fine up until I upgraded to iOS 7. Freezes and is super slow. Guess its Apples way of telling you to buy a new one.
schietkop
hi alwayssunny, Try first to upgrade using DFU mode to the new IOS 7.1.1, its much faster then i.e. 7.0.4 which was slowing down all iphone 4's. It did do the trick for apple many people bought new phones . If you cant fix yourself you can also bring it here: http://www.promobilez.co.th/contacts/ free pick up return service and "no cure no pay" in case it cannot be fixed. atyclb
have seen sites that take apart the ipad to see how much ram it has as apple does not publish it. some believe the amt of ram is inadequate. i think even the ipad air only has 1 gig of ram. http://www.engadget.com/2013/11/01/ifixit-tears-apart-apples-new-ipad-air/

WitawatWatawit
An apple a day keeps the websites away. My iPad 3 is a little beauty, but it does need a bit of TLC every now and then. Closing all programs and rebooting every day seems to keep the little chap happy. But I do wish Apple would stick to the old maxim, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". It's a software "broke" - his responsibility is to understand why in this case, and we are all dropping suggestions to help him (closing programs, rebooting - comprendez?). If the maxim is vague to you, think about the transition to IOS 7 and the confusion it caused. You'll find plenty of discussion about it on the web boards. Many things were changed that simply didn't need to be changed - hence, "if it ain't broke ..." etc. Many do not dispute that saying. The changes WERE totally unnecessary and - my opinion only - were just caused by geektards being ... well, geektards.

Software or hardware can be "broke". How about the company that you paid money to, should fix it? Apple are fixing some iPhone 4's? Now, if you consider an "upgrade" (and I use the term upgrade lightly) as fixing something that is not broke, then that is indeed very sad. Generally speaking, companies need to introduce new "product" (hardware or software in the world of IT) in order to increase or maintain sales. attrayant
iOS7 is a memory hog. Turn off all the new bells and whistles like the "zoom" feature that gives so many people motion sickness: settings -> general -> accessibility -> zoom. Also disable background app refresh and spotlight search for the particular apps you don't need it indexing. The problems with apps automatically reloading themselves when called the foreground is also most likely due to iOS7's poor memory management. This affects mostly power users who do a lot of app switching. For example, filling in a form on Amazon.com, then going to your address book to get some shipping info - come back to the amazon page and it will hang for a few seconds before reloading and you'll lose all the data you had entered into the form. The result is effectively that application multitasking no longer exists on many iOS devices. I guess we're not supposed to link to other forums but if you google search for the phrase "ios7 keeps refreshing apps after switching" it'll be the first result (apple user forums). For those of you who are still on iOS6, I recommend you remain there unless you have a pressing need for some new feature in iOS7. Change invites problems. A good general recommendation in the world of information technology is never upgrade an OS, firmware or baseband unless (1) you have a pressing need (i.e. The current configuration is seriously broken) and (2) you're still under warranty.
