5 months pregnant, ear infection, many antibiotic s

Featured Replies

My wife is 5 months pregnant and just came back from the ENT because she has ear pain going down here neck.

He said she has and ear infection and prescribed.

1 Amoxicillin 500 take 2 taplet after meal in the morning and night.

2.Curam solutab 1g. take 1 tablet after meal in the morning&night

3.Paracetamal take 2 tablet when i have pain or fever

4.New ear drop

I looked up Curam and its a wide band amoxicillin.

I think he has her taking to many antibiotics.

What do the people with some medical knowledge think she should take? Only one of the antibiotics and is it safe during pregnancy?

Amoxicillin is generally safe in pregnancy but this definitely seems a very high dose. The Curam alone in the dose prescribed should theoretically be sufficient.

I agree. I believe one of the antibiotics should be sufficient. But which one?

I'm hoping that Sheryl can give me her opinion on which antibiotic my wife should take.

Suggest to stick to Curam but seek another opinion if this does not respond within 3 days or so.

Thats what I suggested to my wife. Take the paracetamol for pain, take the ear drops and curam.
