Thai Airways investigates internet idol's theft of life vest

BANGKOK: -- Thai Airways is investigating the case of a popular internet personality suspected of stealing a life vest and sharing a photo of her loot on Instagram.

Airline officials said today they are taking the matter seriously after attention was drawn to the photograph posted Sunday by internet idol Praew Weerayuthbuncha.

“Regarding earlier news of a passenger taking a life vest from an aircraft, THAI would like to further state that we are currently gathering information and investigating this issue thoroughly to accurately determine what happened,” the airline said on Facebook.

The issue of Praew’s alleged theft was raised and debated after it was posted to a discussion forum Sunday night.

oh well , the staff of Thai airways stole my belongings in my latest flight from Europe .....so nothing new ..... or maybe thai airways want to blame those for the huge loss in profit they had lately ? I was the last to leave the aircraft last week and forgot 3 pictures bought in Europe , in a paper tube in the cabin lock .... when I called TG they said WE found nothing ..... I replied NO you stole my pictures .... and still waiting for the reply to my email which will never come ..... so I have only one word : som namna

Should build a theft detector like in supermarket inside the plane not only life vest, copper spoon ,fork .blanket, pillow also hot items inside the plane. even now magazine printed don't take out from the plane!

Just imagine the alarm set off and air stewardess stop for body check that should be great to see one day.

Oh would you stop with your rants already? This isn't about the value of the life vest but the fact that if something had happened on the next flight, some unlucky passenger would not have had his or her life vest.

Its bad enough when people steal the sick bags ( Why i don't know ) But this is bang out of order. If this is true she should be in serious trouble, and banned from flying for life.

Good thing she posted it on the internet, so Thai airways realised that the life jacket was missing.

NO with Thai, after every flight this should be standard practice to check for these emergency items. OK.

So why do you post like this--did you forget standard procedures ??? My main point you missed for some reason.

Oh well,... but the latest legendary brawl between 2 Chinese people on board resulting in steel blade knife injury, mai pen rai forgotten, and replaced with plastic knives, ...

I would have hoped that there are routine checks done before any passenger embarks on a new flight, which includes checking that all safety items are present and in working order. If a life-vest under a seat is missing, it should be replaced and accounted for afterwards. I do not condone this so called 'idol's' action, but it should be irrelevant to precursor required checks.

Time to install cameras in all areas of planes, just like the UK has at least 5 cameras installed on local transport buses, to monitor people and identify them.

Bit late for the aviation engineers to consider and implement such.. I would hazard a guess....... as it's too simple!
