This story is so very ... FLORIDA. Well, it is a Mac.

Sevier ostensibly filed the motion “on behalf ‘of other minority sexual orientation groups,’ and argued, “if gay couples have the right to marry their object of sexual desire, even if they lack corresponding sexual parts, then I should have the right to marry my preferred sexual object."

Hostile silly stunts like this actually HELP the pro gay civil rights cause. The American public has "evolved" and doesn't buy the if we let gays marry, then the next step is people marrying their dogs arguments. However, like it or not, there is a small grain of truth to those arguments and that is about POLYGAMY. I expect a movement to grow ... slowly ... to advocate for legalizing polygamous unions in the U.S. They probably will see the legalization of gay marriage as an opening and they are certainly free to try to persuade the public if they wish. If they do, they will have a very long road.

It is politically unfortunate that a connection will be made between gay marriage legalization and potential polygamy legalization because I think these are really separate issues. But the truth is the connection can't be avoided so it may as well be faced.

Marrying dogs and computers ... never.

Most Americans would be smart enough to understand the difference between a human being and an inanimate object or a non-human animal. But then, I cannot imagine people from other countries coming up with such ideas as outlined in the OP....

Polygamy is a different, and rather complex, issue and I suggest to open a new thread for that.

No need for such a thread here. It's not gay related. The computer stunt was done to resist legalization of gay marriage.

I think some Americans never heard of the word "consent" either, despite also not knowing that polygamy is not a sexual orientation. rolleyes.gif

I wonder if it has a big, hard drive?

You actually meant: big, hard, drive... wink.png

Sometimes I love the grammar/spelling/punctuation police. Sorry for the mistake, you are right!
