By reading the appropriate guidance notes and asking questions on forums such as this one, you should be able to prepare a successful application. All for free.

However, if you do want to use the services of a professional adviser, then make sure that they are either a qualified lawyer specialising in immigration, or registered with the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner.

Click here for the OISC adviser finder.

Or you could PM Scouse!

I guess you haven't had time to look around this site? But I think you will find that others, far more informed than me, will suggest that you put together your own application. The agencies will charge quite a bit and there are no guarenatees. This site - and others - have a wealth of information thats already been posted on this subject.

Good luck!

As most of your evidence, bank statements etc., is in the UK, then you being in the UK makes it easier to collect this evidence. Many people have successfully obtained visas for their Thai partner when they have been in the UK and their partner in Thailand.

Remember, all an agent, no matter how qualified, can do is advise you on how best to prepare the application. The same advice you can get here for free.

I can understand why people may want professional advice if there is something in the applicants past that could influence the decision, criminal record, previous breaches of the immigration rules etc., but for a simple straightforward application it is, IMHO, a waste of money.

At least you are doing the right thing and looking for a qualified agent in the UK, rather than falling victim to one of the many touts lurking outside the various embassies! From UK Visas Should I ask an agent or an immigration adviser to help me apply for my visa?

You should be careful about using an agent or an immigration adviser as they cannot issue visas, or influence the outcome of your application. There have been cases where agents and immigration advisers have given people poor advice and overcharged them.

If you are not sure how to make your application, or if you want advice about travelling to the UK, you should read the appropriate guidance, this website, or contact your nearest British mission overseas.

or ask here.

However, if you feel that you want to use an agent, that is up to you.

If you do wish to instruct a representative in the UK, then by all means contact me by PM. Also, check out my home page on my Thai Visa profile for a link to the company website.
