Former PM on vacation in Chiang Mai

CHIANG MAI, 12 April 2014 (NNT) – Ousted Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is on vacation with her son, Supasek Amornchat, in Chiang Mai Province.

After she had been removed from her post by the Constitutional Court, Miss Yingluck took her son to the northern province of Chiang Mai to take a break from politics.

She was accompanied by former Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom and Chiang Mai Governor Wichian Puttiwinyu.

Security was reportedly tight during her visit to a department store where she had lunch with her son. Groups of her supporters were also present in the area.

Last week, Ms Yingluck was removed from office after the Constitutional Court ruled that she was guilty on charges in connection with the transfer of National Security Council (NSC) chief Thawil Plensri. Mr. Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisarn has been appointed as her replacement.

Yea well keep up the Yingluck bashing..

btw who was the Defense Minister again? oh right Yingluck is still the defense minister, the CC's ruling does not ban her from caretaker DM or for the upcoming quorum, where she will face an impeachment hearing in the senate once the election is over and she is party list candidate#1 and then the impeachment process will fail to get 3/5s for impeachment, then she will be PM again with full powers, so might as well hold onto that DM portfolio, since she aint goin nowhere

So are we now going to subjected to reports of her every movement and utterance, just as we have been with Thaksin's?

Well, according to some she is still boss of the defence department so while she is shopping, and the south is under attack heavy attacks, bangkok is nearing boiling point etc, it seems relevant ....

She looks much more relaxed now that the grizzly old creep/mad monk duo is no longer her direct problem.

No see you don't get it. Because of this fiasco over the amnesty bill, Thaksin can never come back, no government will dare try to put through an amnesty bill..

Thaksin in his condo in Dubai has no real power, not even being allowed into the country.. This allows Yingluck to create her own, less threatening relationship with the military brass, or at least some of it, she only needs some support in the military and that will neutralize any coup attempt. And people in the government that cooperate with her, do not have to worry about the boogeyman coming back-it's all with her now..they have a single address to deal with.

I don't think the shins are that bad (maybe they're not 'great'), all i seen since they took over in 2001 is half the level of poverty, an expanded middleclass, national healthcare, and loan guarantees for people who want to start a small business.. If the price for that is just some 'corruption' and 'nepotism' I willing to deal with that.. and i never had to deal with no healthcare and a shitty wage for working in the rice fields all day..

Yea well keep up the Yingluck bashing..
