What are the usual fees and costs for a farang to buy a second hand car ?

Are the fees smaller if the car is bought in a Thai name ? I am asking about transfer fees, paperwork fees, taxes to transfer the car title . Where is the Gov.'t office located near Pattaya to do the transfer ? Thank you

The government office is located on the highway 36 road out of Pattaya.just before the regents international school on the opposite side you will be traveling from Pattaya direction.

Farang and thai price should be no different, fees are around 2000 baht to transfer a 90.000 baht car, best to go there to clarify exact amount, fees vary on the selling/buying price..if you intend to buy in farang name you will need a proof of residence paper from immigration at jomtien..

Thank you VERY much for your info. That Gov.'t office sounds like that same place as where you can get your Thai driver's license.

Yes same place. But remember if the car you are buying doesn't have a Chonburi number plate they will send to to the DLT in Chonburi 60 km from Pattaya.

How can you know about the Chonburi number plate ? Does it list the city/district on the paperwork ?

It's written on the number plate and also in the blue book of the car
