English lessons for Police (BIB)

Featured Replies

I can use some help, particularly legal language translation such as warrants, bail, etc.

Basic LEO words as well, q&a.

Anyone have some?

Thanks!

Blimey after all this time surely you haven't had your collar felt have you?

Headquarters in Bangkok issued a booklet with loads and loads of vocabulary applicable to police officer's duties. I've the booklet at home. I'll make a scan of the front page later today and post it on here.

I'm sure Som has very good reasons but I would be p*shed off if I was an English, even London Met, Copper expected to speak any Thai.

Got kids to feed, so I have to do what I have to do, even if it is teaching English to bibs. giggle.gif

Necessary English Phrases for BIB:

'Where is your helmet/driving licence/bankbook?'

'200 baht fine.'

'Over limit for alcohol/speed/monthly income.'

'200 baht fine.'

'Speed camera not working.'

'Do you want to meet my wife's sister?'

Ted, sorry I was out of town for a few days.

I have given lessons to the police many years ago, but to be honest, their level of English was so basic, we never got anywhere near learning legal phrases.....

Sorry I can't help.

Simon

Taught the tourist police for quite a while, but then my hard drive died and went to Nirvana, with all the stuff I had made for them, including Power Points.

But it was a waist of time........?

I could see some development, but once I stopped "teaching" them, they didn't continue with a program I gave them, called Rosetta Stone.

Our best friend "Nat" had just opened a restaurant, seems that nobody there likes him, guess you know why.

Was there last week and met some good guys, the one female "Jim", also a "Sergeant Major", who's actually for Sisaket province would be the right boss.

It's pretty easy, as most of them can't speak one sentence. I'll send you a private message with useful staff, asap.

A post has been edited. There is a PM function for passing on information that is not permitted on the open forum.

If I got your opening post right, you are (amongst others) looking for legal terms related to police work in Thai?

Some should be found in this category at thai-language.com:

Sorry for the link. Actually meant "stuff", not staff.....

I have a pdf file that would be helpful, but I can't attach it. It's only 22Mb. If you have any ideas I would be happy to send it to you

Some of the Farang TPV bell ends could do with English lessons, especially that pleb in Pattaya who was on Bangkok Brits a few weeks.

The PDF is about teaching the police English, not about Thai translations of police vocabulary...sorry for any confusion this may have caused
