Actually, handier now. Below posted on another forum by a friend in C. Mai.

Laos Consulate Khon Kaen
Not sure if this has been posted before but in case you need a Visa for Laos (for instance for the Bueng Kan crossing where there is no visa-on-arrival you can get it at the Laos Embassy in Bangkok or at the Laos Consulate in Khon Kaen.
The consulate has moved from the east side of town to the north and you can find it now on Highway 2 (Mitthaphap Road) opposite the Raja City Lakeside and Garden Home which you will find between Lotus and the Khon Kaen ring road on the north side of town. They are open Mon-Fri from 9.00 till 12.00 and from 13.00 - 1600

Has been there for ages as far as I know.

Not far from the Immigration Office on the same side as the road.

Not new news. Been there for some time.

Be aware they stop for lunch.

Has anyone got a tourist visa from the KK consulate? If so, can you get there at 9:00am and get the visa before lunch? What is the cost for UK passport holders?

Reason I ask is that you cannot get on a direct bus to Vientiane without a visa. If no visa then you have to muck about quite a bit by getting a bus to or near Nhong Khai then songthaew then get the visa at the border then a taxi or bus to Vientiane.

Thanks
