Congratulations to the Kiwis on a well deserved win.

It's such a shame that there will not be a series decider.

They now spend June playing each other in ODIs and a T20; surely a coup[le of those games could have been sacrificed for a third test?

Big worries for England, England v New Zealand: Problems England must solve for Ashes

I totally agree that there should have been more Tests scheduled.

I think the English management considered NZ an easy walk over with the lead up to the Ashes;

I personally would love to see a 5 test series between Australian and New Zealand.

Gone are the days when a Windies series generated excitement in Australia. If you hadn't mentioned it I would not have known it was starting today

Good news for the Windies. We picked Nathan Lyon to give them some slogging practice

Australian quicks dismantle West Indies but late wickets remove gloss

Australia have been left with work to do to resume command of the first Test against the West Indies after losing three wickets on Wednesday afternoon that took the gloss off a Josh Hazlewood-led demolition job by their fast bowling unit.

Michael Clarke's quicks claimed eight wickets between them as the West Indies were rolled for 148 by tea, vindicating the Australian selectors' decision to overlook Fawad Ahmed and a two-pronged spin attack.

However, the hosts successfully chipped away at Australia's advantage in the final session of a day at Windsor Park in which 13 wickets fell, with openers David Warner (8), Shaun Marsh (19) and Clarke (18) himself all departing before stumps. It could have been worse had debutant Adam Voges not survived a close chance from a diving Jerome Taylor at backward square leg and a couple of other hairy moments in the final half-hour.

The 35-year-old West Australian made it to stumps undefeated on 20, however, and will resume with a patient Steve Smith (17 not out) on Thursday with Australia 3-85 in their first innings..

For some reason, Star Sports don't seem to be covering this series.

Would like to see Adam Voges go on with it.

Australia is now 6 for 133 still trailing by 15 runs. Voges still in on 36. Smith out for 25. Watson scored 11 and Haddin 8

Voges, Century on debut. Not out!

Khun Will got his wish

What a great feel good story.

Voges had a season the selectors couldn't ignore, so got included in the squad.

Probably wouldn't have played if Rogers wasn't injured. Now the pressure will

be on Marsh to hold his spot once Rogers is fit.

Great for Voges but he's nearly 36. The Aussies stocks have been really low on

promising young batsmen for a while now.

Voges joins elite club of debut Test centurions

Adam Burnett

Adam Voges became the latest Australian to score a Test century on debut. Here are some other classics

Adam Voges joined an exclusive club overnight, becoming the 20th Australian to make a century on Test debut.

Amazingly, five of the past six to achieve the feat were at Windsor Park, with Shaun Marsh and Michael Clarke as Voges' teammates, Greg Blewett with the Bupa Support Team as fielding coach, and Mark Waugh in his role with the National Selection Panel.

bit frustrating the kiwi test series was just 2 matchs? and thoughts on the up and coming one dayers? 2 fairly even teams?

Looking into the future, probably going to be 2 tests against Australia also:

New Zealand Cricket set to scrap Australia Test for Chappell-Hadlee ODI's

New Zealand Cricket is poised to replace a home Test against Australia this summer with three Chappell-Hadlee one-day internationals in a bid to continue riding the World Cup wave.

Australia are scheduled under the International Cricket Council's 'Future Tours Programme' to play three Tests in New Zealand in February, before the World Twenty20 tournament in India, but NZC chief executive David White confirmed discussions were well advanced to change that.

It would mean yet another two-Test series for the Black Caps, but White felt a potential World Cup final rematch on home soil, and a revival of an annual Chappell-Hadlee Trophy series was compelling.

Some sad news:

Craig Kieswetter: Somerset and England wicketkeeper retires

Somerset and England wicketkeeper-batsman Craig Kieswetter has announced his immediate retirement from cricket because of an eye injury.

Kieswetter broke his nose and damaged his eye socket and cheekbone while batting against Northants last July.

The 27-year-old played 46 one-day internationals and 25 Twenty20 matches for England, but has not featured for his country since January 2013.

Which is a great shame.

But money, especially TV money, talks and ODIs and T20s make more money than tests; unfortunately.

yep and unfortunly that cant be ignored , bizare when really that its still the most attractive to watch.

First England v New Zealand ODI yesterday (Tues).

McCullum won the toss and put England in; a decision which seemed right when Roy was out (c Guptil, b Boult) first ball of the match.

With Hales c Henry b Boult for 20 not long after, it seemed that England's ODI woes were to continue.

But, despite these two early losses, they stuck to their statement of intent before this series and finished on 408 for 9. The first time they have ever scored over 400 in an ODI.

Root; 104 from 78 balls.

Buttler; 129 from 77 balls.

Rashid; 69 from 50 balls.

Poor old Elliott, having got rid of Jordan and Rashid in successive balls, he saw his hat trick ball hit for 6 by Plunkett. Not sure if that's ever happened before in any form of the game; even in a T20.

Full credit to New Zealand; they gave it a go right from the start; but the task was simply too much, even for them, and they were bowled out for 198 off 31.1 overs.

England won by 210 runs; their biggest ODI win ever.

England hit record 408-9 to thrash New Zealand in ODI

Of course, one swallow does not a summer make. But if England continue in this positive way, win or lose this series, it can only be good for the English ODI game in the long term.

Bring on Friday at The Oval!

Second test between WI and Australia starts tonight.

Rogers ruled out again with concussion so looks as if no changes at this stage.

Do you think there is any truth to the rumour that the Marsh family connections are keeping Rogers out?

Interesting article about Davey Warner....

In the early weeks of Australia's tour to the Caribbean, David Warner made waves for not making them. He was quiet, withdrawn, and not given to social interaction with teammates and team staff who had grown used to a far louder, more jack-in-the-box persona.

The difference was so pronounced that it caught the attention of the coach Darren Lehmann, who spoke with Warner about it. While accepting Lehmann's counsel, Warner is determined to reposition himself, both on and off the field.

Warner has told ESPNcricinfo the changes witnessed in the early days of this trip were deliberate, and a statement of intent. As he nears his 29th birthday, Warner does not want to be the chief on-field "attack dog" anymore, and away from the middle he wants to keep a lower profile. In Dominica, this was personified by how Warner threw himself around the field with considerable abandon, but was hardly glimpsed in confrontation with the opposition.

These decisions will have considerable implications for the Australian team, but Warner hopes they will ultimately result in a most critical benefit - consistent runs, and bigger hundreds.

"My approach the last couple of weeks, I sat down and had a think about what lies ahead for me and how much cricket there is coming up over the next 18 to 24 months," Warner said. "For me it's about conserving my energy. In the everyday world, everyone knows that sitting down and having a conversation with someone can be draining and energy-zapping.

"So when you're in big groups and around each other all the time at training, you want to give 100% at training and you're committed in the nets and try to help out as much as you can, but you've got to try to conserve as much energy as you can. I've quietened down a little bit around the guys, and it's more about myself for the longevity of my career and giving your all when you're actually out there for Australia."

Much of Warner's energy had recently been directed at numerous unfortunates on the opposing side. Under the leadership duo of Lehmann and Michael Clarke, Warner had been given licence - sometimes even instruction - to instigate confrontations with opponents and rile them to distraction. Jonathan Trott, AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are just a few of the players he has crossed, resulting in several fines.

Warner out for a duck after facing 3 balls, Marsh out for 11. They were both claimed by Taylor who has bowled 5 overs for 0 runs and 2 wickets;

Score now 2 for 51. Clarke was lucky. He was caught and bowled off a no ball

Taylor ended with the figures 3-18 off 15 overs. Phenomenal bowling!

Interesting that Australia still struggle in the West indies with their scoring rate, despite the WIndies not having beat us in a test for 12 years.

Warner failed again. Is the new softly softly Dave Warner a dud?

Indeed, England had been up with, often ahead of, the required rate for much of their innings. When rain stopped play, chasing 399 to win they were 345 for 7, needing 54 from 37 balls; difficult, but achievable, especially with Rashid and Plunkett both seeing the ball as if it were a beach ball!

When play restarted, their revised target was 34 off 13 balls! They gave it a go, losing Rashid and Plunkett, as they had no time to get back into their previous frame of mind after the break, in the process; but the task was simply too much.

As this was a day/night game, The Oval has floodlights and the rain delay was short (the time they took to get the covers back off was longer than the time it rained for!), why could they not play those other 4 overs!

The attitude of "We have a scheduled latest finish time and are going to stick to it." may make sense if that scheduled time is late, but it was only 9:15.

I'm sure the neighbours wouldn't have objected if the game had gone on long enough to get a proper finish; how long would it have taken to bowl those other 4 overs?

Another great game, spoiled at the end by the attitude of officials and Messrs Duckworth and Lewis.

All credit to New Zealand on the win, and the muted manner of their celebration. It was obvious that they were disappointed with the manufactured aspect of their victory.

New Zealand 398-5: Taylor 119 not out, Williamson 93, Guptill 50

England 365-9: Morgan 88, Hales 54, McCullum 3-86

New Zealand won by 13 runs
