The Scorchers have dropped to 5th.

Playing the Heat again tomorrow is a must win.

We're the only side that plays them twice.

At least Lynn isn't playing although Marsh and Willey are big outs.

Another good game tonight that went down to the wire.

i just watched some highlights...was that the game with Hilfenhaus hitting 18 from the  18th over?

Yep, that's the one.

I thought Brad Hodge made a bad blue bowling Wes Agar (Ashtons brother) who was on debut

instead of Pollard. Cost them the game.

I think he got carried away when Agar only went for 2 in the 16th but he really tightened up in the 18th.

Hilfenhaus is no Bradman.

Pollard is their "star" import and is on probably $150 000 plus compared to Agar who is probably on $10 000.

Should've thrown the ball to Pollard and told him that's why he's paid the big bucks.

Liam Bowe (L Bowe) is a 19 year old left handed leggie who made a good debut for Melbourne getting 1/21 off of 3.

Looked promising.

Yep my thoughts to,had the Strikers season been over Agar on for the experience but it wasn't so to not bowl Pollard was a mistake unless the bandaged hand played a part in the decision.

Good win by the Scorchers yesterday.

Playing the Heat without Lynn was a huge bonus.

The Heat were also without their best bowler Badree.

Having said that, the Scorchers were without Mitch Marsh and David Willey

due to international duty plus Jason Behrendorff, Joel Paris and Nathan Coulter-Nile

due to injury. I won't count Voges as a loss.

The Scorchers defend really well so it was a bit of a surprise that the Heat decided to bowl first.

Scorchers made 156 due mainly due to Klinger who made 81 from 54.

Klinger should've been given out caught behind on 54 but the umpire seemed to be the only one

who didn't hear anything. He was then given out caught on the boundary in the 18th over when I

thought the fielder definitely stepped on the rope. Should've been given a 6 IMO.

156 shouldn't have been enough but Mitchell Johnson picked up 2 wickets in his first 2 overs and

when McCullum went for 15 off of 10, it was always going to be a struggle.

At one stage, Tye had 1 for 19 off of 2 overs and finished with 4 for 22 including a hat trick over 2 overs.

Ashton Agar played really well as well with 18 from his 4 and 3 catches including a real belter.

The Scorchers really lack a big hitter now that Marsh has gone.

They're a team of accumulators so that might bite us on the bum if we have to chase a total of 180 plus.

Things get worse for Brisbane heat...

Brendon McCullum suspended for slow over rate in Brisbane Heat's BBL loss to Perth Scorchers at Gabba

The Brisbane Heat have lost captain Brendon McCullum to a one-match suspension because of a slow over rate in Wednesday night's Big Bash League (BBL) defeat to Perth Scorchers at the Gabba.

The Heat took 96 minutes to complete their bowling innings against the Scorchers in the 27-run loss, six minutes outside the 90-minute limit imposed by the tournament's directors.

It was McCullum's second strike for a slow over rate, earning the former New Zealand captain a one-match ban, while the team was fined $1,000 per player from the XI who played the Scorchers.

The fine, however, was reduced to $500 per player because the Heat chose not to appeal the sanction.

McCullum will miss the Heat's clash with the Melbourne Stars on Tuesday at the MCG.

"It is disappointing for them [supporters] that they will miss seeing one of the game's best in action in Melbourne next week," Queensland Cricket chief executive Max Walters said in a statement.

Woah, I wasn't sure if the authorities would have the minerals to suspend him.

Especially as Boof and Junior were saying it "would be terrible and we can't have that".

I reckon if it was Adam Voges or another captain with a lesser profile, they wouldn't have said anything.

It was his second time.

I'm a McCullum fan but you have to draw the line somewhere.

The Heat, who were first before yesterday's game could actually miss out now.

Might come down to their last game against the Renegades to determine who gets in.

What an amazing win by the Hurricanes. Chasing 222, which was a record score in Big Bash 6 by the Renegades, off 20 overs and won on the last ball. They were at one stage 2 for 24

Ben Mcdermott  hit 114 and it was a great T20 innings. Looks like he is a better bat then his father Craig Mcdermott  who was a good bowler for Australia.

It was a great game to watch.

Another sensational game in the BB.

You could've written your own odds on the Hurricanes chasing down a record 222

by the Renegades.

Hard to see the Renegades making the top 4 from this.

Easy to see why the BB is attracting record crowds.

Just a sensational competition.

Will be interesting to see what crowd the ODI's attract.

Cancel the series and send everyone back to the BBL:smile:

Yep, Pakistan don't have much drawing power and IMO, the 50 over format is outdated.

On TV they said the crowd was 20 000. Chris Lynn probably added a few thousand to that as well.

A few days before that had 34 000 when the Heat played the Scorchers.

A disappointing loss by the Scorchers means their last game against Hobart is a must win.

It could come down to net run rate if they lose.

The game was gone after 6 overs with the score at 4 for 24 which is the worst score

in BB history after the power play.

Again the batting was poor and none worse than Shaun Marsh who averages 11 after 6 games.

Klinger gets a pass as he has been our best bat (after Mitch Marsh) but the next 4 were deplorable.

Ian Bell went for a first baller. After a decent start to BB has been average at best for our overseas import. Hilton Cartwright,

for a guy who has played test cricket and with a reputation of being a hard hitter has a strike rate of 68 after

2 games.

Surprisingly, Andrew Tye was sent in at 6 and went well top scoring with 42 off 33.

Agar and Bresnan (who has been a good pick up) did pretty well to get to 134 but

it was always going to be a struggle.

It could've been interesting if we held our chances. Quiney was dropped on zero and

went on to 35 off 23. Pietersen dropped on 1 and made 43 not out. He was also missed on 7

when Shaun Marsh couldn't his the stumps from 5 meters away. You have to take everything

when defending such a low score.

Positives, Jhye Richardson again impressed. Picked up 2 for 26 from 3 and bowled with good pace.

Only 20 years old and looks to have a future methinks.

Looks like Warney got his wish with young leg spinner Mitchell Swepson getting picked for the tour to India.

Squad: Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), Ashton Agar, Jackson Bird, Peter Handscomb, Josh Hazlewood, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Stephen O’Keefe, Matthew Renshaw, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Wade

Stunning statement from Arthur.

Will be interested to see the crowd for today's ODI at the G.

Horrible innings from Australia..

AT least in a T20 they could have scored the same total runs and I wouldn't have to sit through that cra.p

Yep BookMan, it's hard work watching the ODI's.

Can anybody tell me why Mitch Marsh bats before Head and Maxwell?

That staggers me.

JL knows his stuff so i'm hoping it pays off.

Marsh should be dropped for another batsman.

We have too many allrounders methinks.

Open with Khawaja and Warner followed by

3. Smith

4. Head

5. Lynn

6. Maxwell

7. Wade

8. Faulkner

& then the bowlers.

Marsh is out for the remainder of the ODI  games with an ongoing shoulder injury.

This raised an eyebrow when I read it in an article on Marsh.

"Leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been released from the squad to enable him to play for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash

but will rejoin the side in Perth on Wednesday".

IMO, CA has to be really careful about releasing players for the BB.

Do it for one and then other teams will be wondering why their players who aren't playing in the ODI's are available.

Would Billy Stanlake be available to play for the Strikers today I wonder.

Sydney Thunder are out of the Big Bash finals. Adelaide Strikers (who were also out of the finals) thrashed them by 77 runs. Strikers bowler Sodhi ( a New Zealander) had bowling figures of 6 for 11 off 3 overs. It was a great performance.
