What happened to Wimbledon?

Featured Replies

I was able to watch the first week of Wimbledon Tennis on TrueVision channel 670 (both live and replays) until Saturday. Then on Monday, nothing! No live matches, no replays, no explanation!

Anyone else as annoyed as me, or should I have expected something like this?

Monday is a day off at Wimbledon. It's a tradition. You are obviously just a beginner. :-)

Agreed. Coverage on 670 (known as the tennis channel) has disappeared. Now its on 680 (Fox) in HD and 689 (Fox but non HD).

However, last night, at a point when there were live matches taking place, channel 680 showed an already completed match from the mens singles. I know it wasnt live because you can see the clock on the court and it wasnt showing the current time! At least Andy Murrays match was live but on non HD 689! Strange management of available resources?

Truevisions have pulled tricks like this before. I believe that a two week event like a tennis grand slam can be bought by the broadcaster at a lower price for the less high profile matches in the early rounds, then when it comes to the crunch, coverage mysteriously vanishes when the price goes up! This maybe down to "The Tennis Channel" itself rather than True. Fortunately, for those with the gold/ platinum packages, the grand slams are generally also covered by Fox Sports, and hopefully, we will see the rest of Wimbledon, but no guarantees on which matches!

Monday is NOT a rest day. Sunday is, unless the schedule is behind because of bad weather.

It's England, rain stopped play on Monday and Saturday so some catching up to do.

Almost certainly the 'fault' (economic management) of the content provider, not the Thai package seller which is pretty much all that True Visions is.

Watching sport tournaments is nearly always a hit and miss hunt around channels in Thailand. After a few years here you either adjust to the bollux or turn grumpy or go back to the organised worldtongue.png
