NCPO pushes for anti-drug operations

BANGKOK, 10 July 2014 (NNT) – The National Council for Peace and Order has emphasized the urgency of anti-drug operations nationwide and assigned the Ministry of Interior to oversee them.

Deputy commander of the army Gen.Paiboon Khumchaya, who is responsible for justice affairs of the NCPO, said he had instructed provincial governors, district chiefs, provincial public health officers and provincial police officers to urgently tackle the problem of drugs through suppression, rehabilitation and prevention. The Ministry of Interior would be a center of the operations since they were closest to the people, Gen.Paiboon said.

The NCPO would consider revising the laws and regulations in order facilitate and give more power to provincial governors and district chiefs, the NCPO executive added. He stressed that all operations would be completed within three months from now.

Gen.Paiboon stated further that the NCPO was happy working with civil servants and no NCPO official had complained that the civil servants had not cooperated. They helped the council work in line with its road map, the deputy commander said.

So prevention will be finished in three month? blink.png

Not that they are serious about, with what looks more like some populist knee-jerk reaction.

Well, if they don't lift martial law, they can continue to censor the media and produce a report in November that the anti-drugs operations, miraculously, has met with a 84.7% success rate (similar to today's "no NCPO official had complained that the civil servants had not cooperated").

Nevertheless, I support eradicating the drug pushers.

The more you tell young people they can't do something, the more they want to do it.

It's a Thai laugher. The military dictatorship should round up a few Thai Mr. Bigs and Thai bank money launderers first. It seems that they have no interest in busting any big Thais.
