Water level in Bhumibol dam critical

BANGKOK, 13 July 2014 (NNT) - Bhumibol dam in Tak province is reportedly critical with only 214 meters of water left. Officers of the dam have notified the Royal Irrigation Department of the situation due to concerns over water shortage.

The dam on Saturday reported that the water level in Bhumobil dam as of 12 July 2014 had been very low compared to 2013. With 214.81 meters of water, the dam discharged 10 million cubic meters of water while no water was entering the dam.

Bhumibol dam currently holds four billion cubic meters of water with the capacity to store a lot more. The department called on the Royal Irrigation Department to warn farmers to save water as much as they could due to the critical water level of the dam.
